Outside the Huddle and Blitz are counting down who they feel are the top 50 individual players in northeast Indiana heading into the 2024 season.
Our highest preseason honor, the 6th annual First Eleven profiles the top players (in the mind of Outside the Huddle) entering the fall.
No. 1: DB Brandon Logan, senior, Snider
Following in his dad’s footsteps who departed Snider as the program’s all-time leading tackler, Logan is the most athletic and impactful player in the area to begin 2024.
A long-time Vanderbilt baseball commit, Logan earned a Notre Dame football offer in July, and earlier this month switched his commitment to the Fighting Irish.
Logan is a freak. He ran a 4.44 40-yard dash at Notre Dame’s recruiting camp in June, to go with a 4.16 in the shuttle and leaped over 10 feet in the broad jump.
A year ago, Logan amassed 95 tackles and six interceptions, four of which he returned for touchdowns. Two of them were pick-six’s against Carroll quarterback Jimmy Sullivan. His pure speed allows him to close on the ball faster than anyone else in this area. His skill set at the back end of a defense is invaluable, able to wrap up ball carriers, breakup passes and make plays on balls that most players can’t even get to.
COACH’S QUOTE ON BRANDON LOGAN“Brandon is a very unique player and person. Nobody in our program has worked harder at his craft than Brandon, evident by him being awarded the No. 1 jersey. He is a tremendous athlete that loves to compete. He is a great teammate. He is an outstanding student with an ‘A’ average. Brandon has the ability to change the outcome of every game due to his excellent play on the field. He is very deserving of all accolades and recognition, but has the unique ability to keep the more important things more important.– Snider coach Kurt Tippmann
