Outside the Huddle and Blitz are counting down who they feel are the top 50 individual players in northeast Indiana heading into the 2024 season.
Our highest preseason honor, the 6th annual First Eleven profiles the top players (in the mind of Outside the Huddle) entering the fall.
No. 6: DB/Ath Jamarion Kolagbodi, senior, Snider
The best lock-down corner in the area? It’s Kolagbodi, a Class 5A All-State selection last fall and a recent commit to the University of Delaware.
There isn’t much that Kolagbodi cannot do. He stands out even before the snap as he lines up right across the line of scrimmage from a team’s top receiver, challenging them to try and beat him. He is “handsy” in that he does a great job of knocking a receiver off his route – or at least affecting it – when engaging at the snap. The quickness in his hips and legs is a huge asset, as is his ability to accelerate at the last moment to disrupt a pass or jump in front to pick the ball off.
A year ago, Kolagbodi hauled in five interceptions to go with 40 tackles as he was an easy pick for All-SAC First Team.
Look for Kolagbodi on offense as well this fall as a senior as Coach Kurt Tippmann and the Panthers look to take advantage of the senior’s athleticism.
COACH’S QUOTE ON JAMARION KOLAGBODI“Jamarion is one of our hardest working and talented returning starters on defense. He played extremely well last year on a great defensive team. He will be asked to carry a bigger load on both sides of the ball this year and has worked extremely hard preparing for this role. He is one of our team leaders as well.”– Snider coach Kurt Tippmann
