Outside the Huddle and Blitz are counting down who they feel are the top 50 individual players in northeast Indiana heading into the 2024 season.

Our highest preseason honor, the 6th annual First Eleven profiles the top players (in the mind of Outside the Huddle) entering the fall.

No. 11: OLB/TE Max Kaehr, senior, Adams Central

Named a small school Top 22 All-State player by Indiana Preps heading into this fall, Kaehr is one of the best in the state in Class 2A. He finished 2023 with 131(!) total tackles to go with 2.5 sacks, five tackles for loss and a pair of pass break-ups. He also had an interception against Eastside.

Kaehr is a natural at the outside linebacker position. He reads offenses extremely well and positions himself to make sure tackles seemingly play after play.

It’s the workmanlike approach by Kaehr that allows him to stand out. There’s nothing flashy or elite about his game, he is just a rugged, white-collar player that represents a type of athlete that frequently goes unnoticed.

Kaehr will be a leader on the defense this fall for the Flying Jets, while also ascending to the starting tight end spot vacated by the graduated Trevor Currie. Expect Kaehr to thrive in the vertical game after Currie hauled in 32 passes for 936 yards and 16 scores last year.

COACH’S QUOTE ON MAX KAEHR“Max is a great kid who is very talented and a good leader. Is our best returning defensive player and will play a significant role this year for us. He will set the tone on our defense and will help spark success on the offense. He is very deserving (of First Eleven)!”– Adams Central coach Michael Mosser
