CONCORDIA AT CARROLL. Both teams tried to find other opponents to prevent this matchup from happening, but scheduling another team over the summer is easier said than done. Why did the teams want out? Because this game doesn’t help either one of them. Carroll will roll and Concordia will look to get out healthy. BLITZ SAYS CARROLL BY 40.
BISHOP LUERS AT SNIDER. For the second-straight season, these two perennial powers meet in Week 3 with both sitting at 0-2. The Knights and Panthers have challenged themselves to start the year and have battled hard, but these programs are used to winning games, not picking up moral victories. Bishop Luers enters this game pretty beaten up after a physical Friday with Andrean in Week 2. Time for a Snider dub at ‘The Ike.’ BLITZ SAYS SNIDER BY 11.
NORTHROP AT NORTH SIDE. A prove-it game for both. The Bruins want to show they are every bit as good as they were last year, while the Legends want to prove they can knock off good teams with their wealth of talent. A question here is, will Northrop have Maddox Weil and Levi Portee available? Both were out in its season opener at Warsaw last Friday. Which team avoids too many turnovers and penalties? BLITZ SAYS NORTHROP BY 3.
SOUTH SIDE AT HOMESTEAD. Way back in 1990, South Side knocked off the Spartans 30-20 in sectional play. Homestead has won the last 11 matchups since. That said, this is a bit of a trap game if Sparty doesn’t show up ready to play. Every coach in the city knows what the Archers can do if they are taken lightly. If this game is close in the second half, anything can happen. BLITZ SAYS HOMESTEAD BY 12.
WAYNE AT BISHOP DWENGER. The Saints have now won 11-consecutive games dating back to last season. That is the longest winning streak for the program since it won 18 straight in 2015-16. Make it an even dozen dubs for Coach Jason Garrett’s squad. BLITZ SAYS BISHOP DWENGER BY 36.
BELLMONT AT COLUMBIA CITY. The primary concern here is how Bellmont slows down a rushing attack that is averaging 447 yards per game. In case you didn’t know, that’s a lot of yards. BLITZ SAYS COLUMBIA CITY BY 33.
EAST NOBLE AT HUNTINGTON NORTH. The challenges just keep coming for the Knights, and with it their love in playing the villain. Huntington North has looked good in a pair of victories, but East Noble’s defense has been smothering through two weeks. Could Alex Scott break the Knights’ all-time program record for career interceptions this week? He needs two of them. BLITZ SAYS EAST NOBLE BY 14.
NEW HAVEN AT DEKALB. The Barons could be even more shorthanded than they were last week. But if Blitz has learning anything so far this year, it is that DeKalb is more than just a couple dudes lighting it up on the scoreboard. Prep for the big one next week against East Noble. BLITZ SAYS DEKALB BY 30.
NORWELL AT LEO. Another big one in the NE8 as we attempt to figure out who slots in where in the conference race. Hunter Kurtz has been electric, throwing for 436 yards and four TDs in two dubs to start the season. Leo outclassed one opponent and was outclassed by another. What gives in Leo on Friday night? Norwell still in ‘prove it’ territory with Blitz. BLITZ SAYS LEO BY 6.
ADAMS CENTRAL AT TIPPECANOE VALLEY. The last time the Flying Jets lost consecutive regular-season games was 2017. All due respect to Tippy Valley, it won’t be able to handle a fired-up Adams Central team after last week’s loss. BLITZ SAYS ADAMS CENTRAL BY 21.
BLUFFTON AT SOUTH ADAMS. A big one in Berne. The Tigers have won three straight in the series, including last year’s 44-41 shootout. Expect another night of offensive fireworks between these two. Coach Kunks prevails. Blitz plays favorites. BLITZ SAYS BLUFFTON BY 7.
HERITAGE AT WOODLAN. A matchup of 2-0 squads out in Woodburn. Both teams had big moments last week in road victories. Which team can get the run game going and create some turnovers? Those two things will be the difference. Heritage has been 3-0 in each of the past three seasons. BLITZ SAYS HERITAGE BY 10.
SOUTHERN WELLS AT JAY COUNTY. Prediction: Leighton Brown runs for a lot of yards for the Patriots. BLITZ SAYS JAY COUNTY BY 28.
ANGOLA AT FAIRFIELD. A victory on Friday and the Falcons will already hit their win total from a season ago. Fairfield is averaging 339 yards per game on the ground. Can the Angola defense that got chewed up last week rise to the challenge? BLITZ SAYS FAIRFIELD BY 6.
CENTRAL NOBLE AT EASTSIDE. After an emotional victory in Monroe last week, the Blazers return home to begin NECC play. Central Noble is going to have a hard time slowing down Job Richman, Noah Dove and company. BLITZ SAYS EASTSIDE BY 32.
CHURUBUSCO AT FREMONT. ‘Busco is young and finding its way. Fremont is experienced and has scored 108 points through the first two weeks of the season. The Eagles had trouble with Bluffton’s offense last week. BLITZ SAYS FREMONT BY 30.
GARRETT AT WEST NOBLE. This matchup has been decided by identical 16-7 scores the last two years, one win for each. Xy’Mire Barnes-Bridges is averaging 9.4 yards per carry for the Chargers. More XB-B the better. BLITZ SAYS WEST NOBLE BY 23.
LAKELAND AT PRAIRIE HEIGHTS. The Lakers have not started a season 0-3 in over 35 years. A loss here would make Lakeland 0-3. It can’t happen! BLITZ SAYS LAKELAND BY 14.
WES-DEL VS. BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN AT CONCORDIA HS. The Braves come off their first-ever true road game win and will host Wes-Del, which has put up 74 and 72 points in the first two weeks, although against significantly inferior opponents. BLITZ SAYS WES-DEL BY 15.
WARSAW AT NORTHWOOD. Good news: Warsaw has scored 62 points in two weeks. Bad news: Warsaw has surrendered 58 points in two weeks. NorthWood has not started a season 0-3 since 2012. BLITZ SAYS NORTHWOOD BY 1.
