No. 7: TE/WR/LB Wes Summersett, senior, South Adams
Summersett has been a stalwart for years for the Starfires. Now entering his final prep campaign, the hope is we see the best the Bowling Green verbal commit has to offer.
A multi-year starter on both sides of the ball, Summersett embodies the old-school, hard-nosed football mentality that we see every year in Berne. Well, with a whole lot of the vertical passing game mixed in, of course.
At 6-foot-2 and a touch over 200 pounds, Summersett can outright the guys bigger than him and run over the dudes that aren’t. He is comfortable in all roles as a receiver – inside, slot and on the outside. As a junior, he hauled in 80 receptions for 1,562 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Summersett is not a newbie to the defense side of the ball. At linebacker, he is a fierce player whose intuition and nose for the football stands out on tape snap after snap. He is a versatile defender who can play close to the line, play the run at linebacker and and drop back into coverage. Last year, he finished with 65 tackles, six tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, two sacks and an interception.
He is one of the most complete football players in the area, regardless of conference.
