Outside the Huddle and Blitz are counting down who they feel are the top 50 individual players in northeast Indiana heading into the 2026 season.

Our highest preseason honor, the 8th annual First Eleven, profiles the top players (in the mind of Outside the Huddle) entering the fall.

No. 6: QB Gabe Frisinger, senior, Carroll

As the heir apparent to Jimmy Sullivan last year, there were some apprehension that the Carroll offense would take a step back. After all, Sullivan was a Division I quarterback on his way to Iowa to play for the Hawkeyes. Could Frisinger keep things rolling in Huntertown?

Turns out, there shouldn’t have been any concern. Frisinger needed one game to get comfortable, then took off. At 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, Frisinger looks the part of a big-time quarterback, and his play as a junior proved it. He can make all the throws, and make them all look easy. He can stretch the field with his going over the top of a defense, as well as being proficient in the run game, evidenced by the fact that he led Carroll in rushing attempts (149) and rushing yards (532) last fall to go with eight touchdowns on the ground.

Through the air, Frisinger was one of the state’s leading passers. He finished the season with 3,349 yards with 28 touchdowns. He threw for 300 or more yards on four different occasions, including a 424-yard effort in the regional championship game at Penn. Nine different times he threw for multiple touchdowns, including four against Bishop Luers and five against Snider.

Frisinger’s play seemed to rise with the quality of opponent. He never seemed rattled in the pocket a year ago. He oozed confidence, knowing he had the dudes up front and the playmakers around him to succeed.

On the back of Frisinger, he most complete quarterback in the area, Carroll has a chance to make another deep run in the Class 6A playoffs.

COACH’S QUOTE ON GABE FRISINGER

“It is always very settling when you return your starting quarterback. Gabe returns from a very successful junior year where he set many school records. Gabe’s experience, leadership, skill and intelligence will be key to our success in 2026.”– Carroll coach Doug Dinan
