No. 8: S/WR Max Jordan, senior, Bishop Dwenger
Ask anyone involved in the Bishop Dwenger football program. Max Jordan is a gamer.
There were not many games a year ago where Jordan was completely healthy, but he fought through it. Despite missing three games and seeing limited action in others, Jordan seemingly was there when the Saints needed him most, even in the state championship game against Roncalli.
Coach Jason Garrett and his staff had to be strategic on where and where to use Jordan last year due to his lingering injuries. If it was up to the senior, he would have been out on the field every snap on both sides of the ball. As it was, Jordan was still a big part of the Saints’ state title run.
At safety, Jordan commands the defense. He plays aggressive without being out of control, patient without being slow. He can close on the run game to bottle up ball carriers close to the line of scrimmage just as well as he can drop in coverage. He finished with 46 tackles a season ago, as well as an interception.
On offense, Jordan hauled in nine receptions for 128 yards and three touchdowns, including a 22-yard strike for a score against Roncalli over Thanksgiving weekend.
Jordan is a tough-as-nails player, your prototypical Bishop Dwenger leader and playmaker on the gridiron. He is invaluable on both sides of the ball for the Saints, who will be better with his healthy presence on the field.
