Outside the Huddle and Blitz are counting down who they feel are the top 50 individual players in northeast Indiana heading into the 2023 season.
Our highest preseason honor, the 5th annual First Eleven profiles the top players (in the mind of Outside the Huddle) entering this fall.
No. 3: QB Jimmy Sullivan, junior, Carroll
No one was really certain how Carroll would perform in 2022.
The same went for its then-sophomore quarterback Jimmy Sullivan as Coach Doug Dinan committed to the youngster after seeing the long-term potential.
Turns out, Sullivan helped elevated the Chargers to another level, together reaching the Class 6A state championship game.
There is no quarterback in northeast Indiana as accurate as Sullivan. No one can touch his velocity, his touch on the football and his overall understanding of the position. All told, he threw for 2,203 yards and 27 touchdowns in 2022, adding 182 yards and nine scores on the ground. The confidence that Coach Dinan put in him in naming him QB1 was evident in every single game, all the way to Lucas Oil Stadium.
After an off-season of improvement, Sullivan will be even better this season. He never seems to miss a throw and his ability to read and break down a defense is unmatched.
Entering this season, Sullivan is the best Class of 2025 player in northeast Indiana.
COACH’S QUOTE ON JIMMY SULLIVAN“Jimmy is a dynamic player and an elite quarterback. He can make all the throws and possesses a great understanding of the game. After an exceptional sophomore season we are very excited for Jimmy to lead our offense in 2023.”– Carroll coach Doug Dinan
