Outside the Huddle and Bounce are counting down who it feels are the top 50 individual girls basketball players in northeast Indiana heading into the 2022-23 season.
Today, we unveil five of the best in the area at positions No. 50-46.
No. 50: Trevyn Terry, Prairie Heights
Terry is the top returning scorer for the Panthers and has developed her game strongly on the varsity level the last couple of seasons, seeing good playing time since her freshman year. Heading into her senior season, the 6-foot-1 post will look to add on to the 10.9 points per game she scored last season while shooting 59 percent from two point range. Terry is also the top returning rebounder at 5.8 per game, steals at 1.3 per game and blocks at 1.7 per contest.
Terry was named All-Northeast Corner Conference Honorable Mention last season.

No. 49: Allie Boyer, Blackhawk Christian
As the Braves continued to find success on the perimeter last season, they were able to balance it with increased inside presence from Boyer, who patrolled the post well and helped facilitate for the entire team. The 6-foot-3 center will head into her junior season after shooting 56 percent from the field last season to score 10.9 points per game. Her biggest strength came in rebounding on both ends of the floor with 7.4 rebounds per contest.

“Allie has improved so much every year. She does a great job at using her strength and size to gain an advantage on the opponent. She creates so much offensively for us while she is on the court whether she has the ball or not. She is the type of player that makes coaching fun. She responds well to feedback, has a desire to get better and has a team first mentality. She will do whatever is necessary for the team to be successful. I am excited to watch her grow even more on and off the court this season.” – Blackhawk Christian coach Steph Gongaware
No. 48: Kloe Krieg, Whitko
The rebuild of Whitko girls basketball has been something on Krieg’s shoulders from the time she first took the court as a freshman. She heads into her junior season with expectations continuing to rise game by game. Last season, Krieg led Whitko with 12.8 points, 1.9 steals and 1.1 blocks per game while also averaging 4.3 points per game. Krieg’s strength is that she is so versatile and can do a little bit of everything, something that she has shown at a growing rate her entire career. She scored in double digits in 16 games last season.

“Kloe is a one of the a kind player as far as skill set. She is an amazing shooter but also has great size, she rebounds well from the guard position and sees the floor well. I expect her to have another solid season.” – Whitko coach Justin Jordan
No. 47: Ashley Cox, DeKalb
One of the breakout stars of the 2021-22 season, Cox’s freshman year was a successful one in terms on helping launch a DeKalb rebuild. She took on major roles right out of the gate, hitting 41 percent of her shots and leading the Barons in scoring at 10.9 points per game – averaging over 12 against conference opponents. Her defensive game was on a higher level; Cox also averaged 3.1 steals per game and had 42 deflections that directly led to steals by teammates. Cox was named All-Northeast 8 Conference First Team, one of two freshmen on the first team.

“Ashley has some physical gifts that make her a pretty good basketball player, but her future success will come from how much she enjoys competing. It doesn’t matter if it is basketball, in the classroom, or tic tac toe, she wants to be at the center of the game making plays and determining the outcome. Standing outside the fire isn’t an option for her.” – DeKalb coach Noah Stuckey
No. 46: Maddy Schenkel, Garrett
Schenkel will handle a big role as she moves to Garrett after playing last season at Bishop Dwenger. She will play a primary guard role for the Railroaders but may be more of a score first than pass first. She’s a quality facilitator but likely a better scorer who can shoot the three ball well and also attack to the basket, which will help her facilitator role better for Garrett.
Her ability to open up the offense will really help elevate a Garrett team coming off one of their best seasons ever. Time will tell how she fits her game to a new situation but she played really well with the Saints a year ago.

“We’ve always been really good when we’ve had a great PG. We feel Maddy is the next in a long line of great PG’s, and her ability to get us into our offense, and score in the offense, will be key when teams focus their defense on Bailey.” – Garrett coach Bob Lapadot
