According to a statement from the school Kate Thursday, DeKalb will be moving on from boys basketball coach Marty Beasley and girls basketball coach Noah Stuckey.

Beasley spent four seasons leading the Barons, during which time he compiled a 33-59 record, including going 8-16 this past season with just two wins over programs with winning records with an overtime victory against Angola and a final home game win over Heritage. Beasley’s top season at DeKalb came during his first, in the 2021-22 season, when he went 10-13.

Beasley has spent 26 years on the sidelines in Northeast Indiana and has been one of the more successful coaches in the area during that time.

Prior to coaching at DeKalb, Beasley opened his head coaching career at Garrett where he spent six season. He had three straight teams at Garrett that won 17 or more games, culminating in his 19-win, Regional championship affair in 2004. Beasley’s 69-65 mark at Garrett made him fifth in total wins for a Garrett boys basketball coach. After leaving Garrett, he had his most successful stint on court during 16 seasons leading the Carroll Chargers.

After going 8-13 in his first season with Carroll, Beasley added a Sectional title to his resume in just year two, where he led the Chargers to a 17-7 record. Beasley had his first 20 win season in 2009-2010, when his Carroll team went 21-4 and won a Regional title. He won back-to-back Sectional titles in 2014-15 and 2015-16 when the team won 45 total games in those seasons. He won his sixth and final Sectional title in his last season at Carroll in 2020-21, where the Chargers posted an 18-7 record.

Also at Carroll, Beasley coached his team to a win the last ever Summit Athletic Conference Holiday Tournament.

Overall, Beasley compiled a record of 349-256, which ranked 27th in the state in total wins by an active coach at the time of his DeKalb exit.

Stuckey became DeKalb’s girls coach for the 2020-21 season and in five years leading the program, he compiled a 52-64 record. Stuckey went 28-18 in the last two seasons, with winning records each time out. They were the first winning record seasons for DeKalb since Nick David led the Baron girls to a 12-8 mark on the 2013-14 season. Stuckey’s 14 wins in each of the last two seasons are the most wins for the Baron girls since 15 wins in the 2009-2010 season.

Prior to DeKalb, Stuckey coached at Southwestern (Shelbyville) for five seasons. There he had double digit wins each season with a winning record four times.

According to the release from the school, the search for new boys and girls basketball coaches will happen immediately.
