No. 9 in our countdown sees the continuation of Outside the Huddle’s First Eleven, our annual preseason crowning of the top 11 players in northeast Indiana. Our highest preseason honor, this is the second-annual First 11 list.
No. 8: Vinny Fiacable, Bishop Dwenger – Senior, OL/DL/RB
The Indiana University commitment is a mix of a high motor, a tiresome work ethic and one of the most colorful personalities around into one 6-foot-4, 300-pound monstrosity.
Fiacable is an anchor along the Bishop Dwenger offensive front, with quick, reactive feet out of his stance and a player who can get his hands up as fast as any lineman in the area.
The senior is versatile enough to fill the offensive line role, but also will see plenty of snaps on the other side of the ball. In 2019, Fiacable amassed 17 tackles, two TFL and two sacks.
And of course, expect to see Fiacable in the offensive backfield for the Saints a time or two in their jumbo package. Last year, he carried the ball twice for eight yards, including a touchdown against South Side.
