No. 11 in our countdown sees the beginning of Outside the Huddle’s First 11, our annual preseason crowning of the top 11 players in northeast Indiana. Our highest preseason honor, this is the second annual First 11 list.

No. 11: Jared Kistler, Homestead – Senior, WR

The latest in a long line of tall, rangy wide receivers for the Spartans, Kistler emerged as one of Luke Goode’s favorite targets a season ago, hauling in 35 receptions for 677 yards and six touchdowns.

At 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, Kistler is extremely difficult for opposing cornerbacks to handle. He can reach above the majority of them and he plays the ball very well in traffic.

Kistler is also tremendously impressive in route running, getting in and out of his breaks as well as anyone in the area.

While a new quarterback will be behind center in 2020 for the Spartans, with Cam Rogers, Griffin Little and Jake Archbold all gone from the wide receiver corps, Kistler should have a big-time year.

COACH’S QUOTE ON JARED KISTLER

“Jared is a 6-4, strong, athletic receiver. He runs great routes and has great hands. He had a great junior year and has improved in the off-season. We expect great things from him this year.” – Homestead coach Chad Zolman
