As teams around the state wanted to be peaking around this time of year, so does Blitz.
In the case of your favorite fuzzy friend, it is definitely happening.
Blitz missed just a single pick last week, that one-point win by Churubusco over West Noble in dramatic fashion.
Now, who can be like Blitz and take some winning momentum into the playoffs?
Let’s tackle Week 9.
Last week: 19-1 (.950)
Overall: 142-35 (.802)
CONCORDIA AT HOMESTEAD. The Cadets have never beaten Homestead in 10 tries. Make it 11. BLITZ SAYS HOMESTEAD BY 25.
BISHOP LUERS AT CARROLL. Since being held to a pair of field goals in Week 4 against Bishop Dwenger, Carroll has averaged 46.5 points in four-straight wins. Luers just doesn’t have the offensive firepower to keep up in this one. BLITZ SAYS CARROLL BY 22.
SNIDER AT NORTH SIDE. In 60 years of Snider football, the Panthers have never lost five-consecutive games. Does it happen Friday at Chambers Field? North’s shut out at the hands of Homestead last week was puzzling and concerning. Both teams need a win in the worst way. Snider makes this difficult on the Legends. BLITZ SAYS NORTH SIDE BY 8.
SOUTH SIDE AT BISHOP DWENGER. With a win Friday, Bishop Dwenger captures the SAC Victory Bell for the first time since 2018. That seven-year drought is the longest without a league title for the Saints since 1996-2006. A locked-in Saints team makes this one look easy. BLITZ SAYS BISHOP DWENGER BY 26.
WAYNE AT NORTHROP. This game, coupled with a bye next week, will give the Bruins a chance to breathe a bit and perhaps rest some banged-up guys. BLITZ SAYS NORTHROP BY 41.
BELLMONT AT EAST NOBLE. Just one league game this year for the Knights has been decided by less than 16 points – the seven-point win at DeKalb in Week 4. That average margin of victory for East Noble in conference games this year? 27.6. BLITZ SAYS EAST NOBLE BY 44.
HUNTINGTON NORTH AT NEW HAVEN. The Lathen Janes to Jimmy Linker connection for the Vikings has resulted in 867 yards and seven touchdowns this season. New Haven’s defense is susceptible to the pass. Bad combination. BLITZ SAYS HUNTINGTON NORTH BY 22.
LEO AT DEKALB. The best area game this week. It doesn’t mean much in terms of the regular season, but this is for the title of second-best team in the NE8. These squads could also meet again in Week 11 if both are victorious to open sectional play. Do both teams hold something back in terms of scheme in case they meet again soon? Give Blitz DeKalb in a “prove it” game. BLITZ SAYS DEKALB BY 2.
NORWELL AT COLUMBIA CITY. Outside of dropping 48 on Bellmont, Norwell is averaging just 5.6 points per game against NE8 foes. That doesn’t bode well heading to Columbia City, which has feasted on inferior defenses. BLITZ SAYS COLUMBIA CITY BY 34.
BLUFFTON AT BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN. After the disappointment of last week’s game against Adams Central, Bluffton gets right by wrapping up the regular season with a lopsided dub. BLITZ SAYS BLUFFTON BY 45.
HERITAGE AT JAY COUNTY. Heritage has won four-consecutive over the Patriots. This feels like a bit of a trap game, but Coach Jeremy Hullinger will have his team ready. BLITZ SAYS HERITAGE BY 20.
SOUTHERN WELLS AT SOUTH ADAMS. The three teams that the Starfires have lost to, Marion Local, Bluffton and Adams Central, are a combined 23-1. BLITZ SAYS SOUTH ADAMS BY 43.
WOODLAN AT ADAMS CENTRAL. A letdown after a dominating performance against Bluffton last week? No chance. BLITZ SAYS ADAMS CENTRAL BY 38.
ANGOLA AT EASTSIDE. Blazers quarterback Job Richman is just 176 yards away from 2,000 total yards on the season. He very well could get there on Friday against the Hornets. BLITZ SAYS EASTSIDE BY 5.
CHURUBUSCO AT FAIRFIELD. The Eagles proved Blitz wrong last week against West Noble. ‘Busco is sandwiched between two tough foes, with Bluffton on the docket next week. Fairfield is capable of pulling this off. In fact, just to keep the Eagles on their toes…BLITZ SAYS FAIRFIELD BY 2.
FREMONT AT TOLEDO CHRISTIAN (OH). Fremont has won its Week 9 game in five straight years. That’s as good of a reason as any to pick the Eagles to knock off…the Eagles. BLITZ SAYS FREMONT BY 11.
GARRETT AT CENTRAL NOBLE. The Cougars have allowed 132 points combined over the last two weeks. Garrett’s offense could use a week like this. BLITZ SAYS GARRETT BY 21.
LAKELAND AT JIMTOWN. The only win by the Jimmies this season came against an NECC foe in Fairfield. Can they make it 2-for-2? Nah. BLITZ SAYS LAKELAND BY 6.
PRAIRIE HEIGHTS AT WEST NOBLE. The Chargers have not lost consecutive games to league opponents since 2021. BLITZ SAYS WEST NOBLE BY 38.
NORTHRIDGE AT WARSAW. The last time Northridge beat the Tigers, Warsaw coach Bart Curtis was at Mishawaka. That was 10 years ago. Make it 10 straight for the Tigers over the Raiders on Friday. BLITZ SAYS WARSAW BY 27.
