Recently, we unveiled our plan to name area programs’ top five players of the 21st century, which sits at 25 seasons in both football and basketball.
Reminder, this is based on high school career performance ONLY. This is by no means a definitive list and, if anything, is encouraging debate on potential omissions to this list.
Through exhaustive research, reaching out to former coaches and players and our own personal opinion, here is the OTH Quarter Century Team for Adams Central Flying Jets boys basketball.
Note: The list is in alphabetical order
Jerod Adler
Jerod Adler was a force at Adams Central, graduating in 2001 and earning All-State Honorable Mention. Adler consistently dominated the boards — highlighted by a 19-rebound game that ranked among the state’s top performances that season. He also surpassed 1,000 career points for the Flying Jets. He went on to play at Indiana State.
Landon Adler
As a senior he put up 23.1 points and a state-leading 13.1 rebounds per game, including a remarkable 27-rebound game and a 47-point outing. Over three seasons, he scored 1,134 points for Adams Central, setting a school scoring record. He earned All-State recognition twice, along with McDonald’s All-America nomination. He went on to play at Ball State and Florida Golf Coast.
Kevin Brown
Brown was considered one of, if not the very best shooter in the area when he was a senior. He scored 20.7 points per game as a senior and was one of just three area players to average over 20 points per game this season. Brown hit 43 percent of his shots and 38 percent of his three point shots during his final season. Brown was named All-Allen County Athletic Conference First Team, All-Area, IBCA All-State Honorable Mention and IBCA Academic All-State.
Trace Maller
As a senior in the 2024-25 season, Maller fueled a 15–8 season. Maller was a top scorer, averaging an area second-best 23 points per game. He dropped 40 points in a single game during the season against Tipton. Beyond his offensive output, Maller was well-rounded, averaging 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals per game. The year before, as a junior, he helped power the Jets to a 20–5 overall record and a perfect conference slate averaging 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals per game. He went on to play at Spring Arbor.
Isaac Schultz
Schultz emerged as a dominant forward at Adams Central, earning First-Team All-State and All-Conference honors. Over two varsity seasons, he became a 1,000-point scorer, twice captured ACAC Conference Tournament MVP awards as he led the Flying Jets to back-to-back titles, and set his school’s single-season scoring record with 601 points. As a senior he averaged 24 points and 10 rebounds per game with his scoring being the area best. As a junior, Schultz averaged 17 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. He then continued his basketball career at Grace College
