PREP FOOTBALL: Blitz’s Picks, Week 11

This may be Blitz’s favorite week of the season. All six classes are in action, and Friday will set the stage for sectional championship week, which starts the real road to Lucas Oil Stadium.

After another solid week of selections, Blitz is back at it this week for the sectional semis.

Last week: 17-2 (.894)

Overall: 177-36 (.830)

SNIDER AT ELKHART. A pair of teams that are almost mirror images of each other. Both rely on a nasty defense and a superb rushing attack. Anyone overlooking Elkhart as a real threat to the Panthers is making a big mistake. But Coach Kurt Tippmann isn’t one of those people. He will have his team ready to play and get a solid win on the road. BLITZ SAYS SNIDER BY 3.

CARROLL AT NORTHROP. Three weeks ago, the Chargers blasted Northrop by 52 points. Maybe the margin of victory won’t be as sizable, but a Carroll win isn’t up for debate. BLITZ SAYS CARROLL BY 43.

HAMILTON SOUTHEASTERN AT HOMESTEAD. The last time Homestead beat a squad from the Indy area was 2019 when the then-undefeated Spartans took down Noblesville in overtime in sectional. Since then, seven consecutive losses. Homestead just isn’t equipped to keep this game close. BLITZ SAYS HSE BY 26.

GOSHEN AT WARSAW. The Tigers, like all of Class 5A, got a bye last week. It will feel like two byes as Warsaw will cruise past a winless Goshen team that it already beat by 49 points in Week 3. BLITZ SAYS WARSAW BY 45.

CONCORD AT NORTH SIDE. Blitz has no doubt that the Legends will come out hype and confident for this game against the No. 1 team in Class 5A. But can North execute for a full four quarters? Can it avoid mistakes that will doom them? Those are questions Blitz has. Concord is no joke. This is a team without any weaknesses. BLITZ SAYS CONCORD BY 15.

EAST NOBLE AT LEO. For the sixth-straight season, these NE8 rivals meet in the playoffs. The Lions have won three consecutive playoff games over the Knights, who own a win in the regular season in the series. There is something about Leo that Blitz likes. A bit of a chip on its shoulder after the two NE8 defeats. This one goes the Lions’ way with Landin Hoeppner having a big night. BLITZ SAYS LEO BY 1.

BISHOP DWENGER AT WAYNE. Does Kimar Nelson play? The Wayne stud has been out the last two weeks and may be the biggest piece to this puzzle. With him, Wayne has a shot. Without him, it will need Harold Mack to have the game of his life. The Dwenger defense shut down Columbia City next week, but Wayne presents more challenges in terms of athleticism and speed. The Saints have won 12 straight in the series. BLITZ SAYS BISHOP DWENGER BY 6.

MARION AT HUNTINGTON NORTH. The Giants come into this one well rested after a bye last week. Will it matter? There’s nothing dynamic about Marion on paper, and Huntington North is at home where its only loss was to East Noble in a reasonably close matchup. Vikings get it done. BLITZ SAYS HUNTINGTON NORTH BY 12.

GARRETT AT TIPPECANOE VALLEY. Just three years ago, these two teams met up to open postseason play. Tippy Valley owned the Railroaders in a 22-8 win. Valley is a run-heavy squad that wants to control the line of scrimmage and the clock. Kind of like several teams that Garrett has already beaten this year, including Adams Central. BLITZ SAYS GARRETT BY 14.

FAIRFIELD AT WEST NOBLE. A rematch of Week 5 when the Chargers rolled to a 31-0 victory. Fairfield’s offense has been on a roll of late, but it still won’t score enough, or get enough stops, to prevent West Noble from moving on. BLITZ SAYS WEST NOBLE BY 20.

BISHOP LUERS AT JAY COUNTY. Eventually, Class 3A will get harder for the Knights. It wasn’t last week and it won’t be this week. BLITZ SAYS BISHOP LUERS BY 25.

CHURUBUSCO AT ADAMS CENTRAL. Since its Week 1 loss to Garrett, the Flying Jets have won nine straight by an average of 31.6 points per game. BLITZ SAYS ADAMS CENTRAL BY 31.

EASTSIDE AT PRAIRIE HEIGHTS. For just the second time in the last decade, Heights is playing a game in November. Kudos to the Panthers, but Eastside will be too much. BLITZ SAYS EASTSIDE BY 14.

SOUTHERN WELLS AT TRITON. By virtue of the bye, the Raiders are in the sectional semifinals. This is where the journey ends. BLITZ SAYS TRITON BY 48.

NORTH MIAMI AT FREMONT. The Warriors are averaging over 300 rushing yards per game. Fremont has struggled at times to contain the run. That’s a bad mix. BLITZ SAYS NORTH MIAMI BY 21.

TRI AT SOUTH ADAMS. Speaking of run-heavy squads, Tri has three different plays that have rushed for 800 or more yards this season. As a team, the Titans have scored 49 touchdowns. That’s very concerning as Blitz looks for a reason to pick the Starfires. BLITZ SAYS TRI BY 9.
