OTH FIRST FIVE 2022: No. 3 Gage Sefton

Blackhawk Christian’s Gage Sefton brings the ball up the court during the second half of January 11’s game against Homestead.

No. 3: Gage Sefton, Blackhawk Christian

Sefton is a student of the game and has been able to be one of the best local chameleons as he has adapted into so many variations of what Blackhawk Christian has needed him to be at any given time since his freshman season. Sefton averaged 18.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game last season while leading the Braves to a Regional title game. If you want to know how hard Sefton works to improve his game and transform as needed, just look at the change last year from the 6.5 points he had averaged as a sophomore. Sefton is super smooth with the ball and is great at making decisions for himself and his team. His ability to get to the rim up the middle or baseline smoothly then creates space for him to knock down the three point shot as well. Sefton is an incredibly talented two way player who can force opposing players to bend at his will.

COACH’S QUOTE ON GAGE SEFTON

“Gage is a tremendous leader on and off the court. His work ethic in the off-season as a thriving 3 sport athlete is something I hope his peers watch and learn from. He is big game tested and has taken a leadership role in building up his teammates to prepare us for this season. His willingness to play a true combo guard position plays to his strengths. I am blessed to have a point guard with his maturity and toughness running the show on the court.” – Blackhawk Christian coach Matt Roth
