Outside the Huddle has confirmed that DeKalb head coach Pete Kempf has stepped down from the helm of the football program.
The news was first reported by Brice Vance of KPC News on Friday afternoon.
The Barons went 8-3 last season, their most victories in a campaign since the 2002 season. On the back of a strong running game and a punishing defense, DeKalb emerged as one of the better teams in the NE8.
“I am stepping down by choice,” said Kempf in a text to OTH. “A lot has gone into the decision.”
In six seasons at DeKalb, Kempf went 27-33 overall.
It is not believed that Kempf is leaving DeKalb for another coaching position.
This season will de updated if more information becomes available from Kempf.
