Homestead’s Jake Archbold is the Player of the Night for Sectional finals

It wasn’t quite a rhetorical question since there was a fan vote option, but after that voting was done, the perhaps no brainer was complete as Jake Archbold of Homestead won the FAN Vote for Player of the Night for the Sectional championship round.

He had four interceptions and scored four touchdowns: one passing, one running, one receiving and a pick-six. Archbold ran for 60 yards, passed for 66 yards and received for 98 yards and added six tackles in the 38-14 win over Carroll. Those stats earned Archbold 28.93 percent of the more than 7,800 fan votes. His performance was even noted by USA Today’s high school sports page.

On Sunday, Archbold joined ESPN 1380’s DC Hendrix and Outside the Huddle’s Dan Vance on the Sideline Sports show to talk about his performance.

Archbold beat out other Player of the Night nominees Blake Heyerly of Adams Central, James Arnold of South Adams, Lane Burns of Eastside, Brenden Lytle of Bishop Dwenger, Griffin Eifert of Bishop Dwenger, Amir Drew of Concordia Lutheran, Bailey Parker of East Noble and Hayden Jones of East Noble.

Fan voting for Player of the Night for football opens each Saturday morning. You can choose your favorite candidate through the following Tuesday at noon.

NOTE: Your favorite player not getting noticed? Outside the Huddle fan vote nominees are based on game night statistics provided by the teams. Make sure your coach is sending in stats on Friday night to othscores@gmail.com
