Thousands (seriously) come visit Blitz’s selections each week, and the last thing this bear wants to do is give bad prognostications.
The first few weeks of the year was a feeling-out period of sorts. Week 3 saw Blitz hit his stride, 18 of 20 correct.
Let’s build on that in Week 4.

CARROLL AT BISHOP DWENGER. The game of the year in the SAC, at least in terms of a pair of elite teams. Carroll’s offense has been darn near unstoppable, while the Saints have not given up a point in regulation so far this season. So, what gives? We expected a shootout last year and got a battle of field goals in a 9-6 Dwenger victory. Blitz believes the Saints won’t keep Gabe Frisinger and Co. out of the end zone this time. Can the back two levels of Dwenger’s defense defend the intermediate and long pass game? BLITZ SAYS CARROLL BY 6.
NORTH SIDE AT CONCORDIA. The Legends make the short jaunt down Parnell to take on the Cadets, who haven’t beat North since 2019. A defense allowing 43 points per game isn’t going to be able to get enough stops against North Side’s playmakers for Concordia to end the losing streak to its neighbor down the road. BLITZ SAYS NORTH SIDE BY 26.
SNIDER AT WAYNE. The early-season schedule for the Generals is just brutal. Leo. Decatur Central. Bishop Dwenger. Now Snider. It has been next to impossible for Coach Darrion White’s team to get any type of momentum. There is some positivity around the program, but people need to be patient. For now, Wayne, keep fighting. BLITZ SAYS SNIDER BY 21.
SOUTH SIDE AT BISHOP LUERS. Two years ago, the Archers shocked the Knights at Luersfield with a 14-13 victory in Week 8. That was really the first notable dub of Coach Andre Goodwell’s tenure and opened some eyes to what he was building at South. The “Battle of Calhoun Street” returns to Bishop Luers with the Knights looking for some payback. With injuries galore for the red and black, can the Archers make it two straight at Luers for the first time since 1989 and 1991? BLITZ SAYS SOUTH SIDE BY 2.
HOMESTEAD AT NORTHROP. This one is really a separation game of sorts. Both have aspirations of being that “other” team in the mix for the SAC title outside of Carroll and Dwenger. Last year saw these two teams trade blows into overtime, with the Spartans emerging with a 42-36 victory. Even with a few key guys out, the Bruins are still very talented on offense. Northrop has not been 2-0 in the SAC since 2020. BLITZ SAYS NORTHROP BY 8.
DEKALB AT EAST NOBLE. Another showdown between undefeated squads in the area. DeKalb had East Noble beat last year in Week 4, but let it get away. That is motivation for the Barons, who will be closer to full strength roster-wise for the first time since Week 1. But East Noble has grasped on to this mentality of ruining good stories on Friday nights. The hype of North Side in Week 1. The opening of ‘The Ike’ in Week 2. Next up, DeKalb’s quest of winning the NE8. Sorry, Barons. BLITZ SAYS EAST NOBLE BY 11.
HUNTINGTON NORTH AT COLUMBIA CITY. This one could be fun. Combined, the teams are averaging 87 points per game. The Eagles’ rushing attack has been ridiculous, as it enters Friday averaging 427 yards a contest. That is the key here. Huntington North is going to score at times, but can it contain the rushing attack of Columbia City? The Vikings had trouble doing that last week against East Noble, particularly in the second half. BLITZ SAYS COLUMBIA CITY BY 7.
LEO AT NEW HAVEN. The Lions made a statement of sorts last week in dominating Norwell to open the NE8 season. They will want to keep that momentum going with the traditional Week 5 showdown with East Noble looming. BLITZ SAYS LEO BY 25.
NORWELL AT BELLMONT. The Knights have earned 10-straight victories over Bellmont dating back to 2017. Norwell has Bellmont and New Haven in consecutive weeks to get right from the road defeat at Leo before a trip to Kendallville to take on East Noble in Week 6. Feed Cooper Bunn! BLITZ SAYS NORWELL BY 26.
JAY COUNTY AT ADAMS CENTRAL. Leighton Brown’s first three games for Jay County have been stupid impressive – 529 yards rushing, 10 touchdowns. Any possibility that the Patriots can win this game hinges on Brown and his offensive line. Yes, Jay County is 3-0, but against teams that are a combined 2-7. Adams Central presents the biggest challenge of the year. BLITZ SAYS ADAMS CENTRAL BY 25.
SOUTH ADAMS AT HERITAGE. The 3-0 start by Heritage makes this one very intriguing. But the Patriots were 3-0 last year entering this matchup and lost by 28 in Berne. South Adams is stinging from a lopsided loss to Bluffton that it took to heart this week. If Heritage can play keep away, it has a shot here. But the Starfires have scored 34 or more points in each of the last three matchups. BLITZ SAYS SOUTH ADAMS BY 15.
SOUTHERN WELLS AT WES-DEL. The schedule for the Warriors hasn’t exactly been Murderer’s Row, but the offense under Coach Matt Nuckols can put up points. The Raiders allowed 62 points to a run-heavy Jay County team last week. Wes-Del is averaging 351 yards on the ground. Uh-oh. BLITZ SAYS WES-DEL BY 31.
WOODLAN AT BLUFFTON. Woodlan has scored seven or less points in each of the last four meetings with the Tigers. This just doesn’t feel like a good matchup unless Bluffton enters the night still focused on beating up on South Adams last week. But that won’t happen…BLITZ SAYS BLUFFTON BY 29.
ANGOLA AT GARRETT. The Railroaders haven’t been helped by a tough schedule out of the gate, but the defense has struggled to string together consistent stops. Angola is 2-0 on the road, including last week’s 7-6 win over Fairfield thanks to a stand on a two-point conversion late. Could be a big night for Angola quarterback Garrett Sorgen, who is completing 69 percent of his passes on the year with four touchdowns. BLITZ SAYS ANGOLA BY 8.
CENTRAL NOBLE AT WEST NOBLE. The Chargers have won four straight in the rivalry that for the first time since 2013 isn’t being played in Week 1. Junior Xy’mire Barnes-Bridges has scored at least one touchdown in each of the first three games. He should have a big night against the Cougs. BLITZ SAYS WEST NOBLE BY 21.
EASTSIDE AT FREMONT. A showdown of undefeateds. Arguably the biggest game hosted by Fremont since the sectional championship game in 2001 against Southern Wells. Jaret Laughlin has been tremendous for the Eagles with over 1,000 total yards already this year. However, Eastside is the biggest test on the regular-season schedule. The Blazers are no joke and their wins over South Adams and Adams Central are telling. Blitz is headed to Fremont for this one and hopes to see a good game. He just isn’t sure it will be. BLITZ SAYS EASTSIDE BY 20.
FAIRFIELD AT LAKELAND. A pair of pretty evenly-matched teams. Fairfield’s offense has shown it can put up points if presented the opportunity. BLITZ SAYS FAIRFIELD BY 8.
PRAIRIE HEIGHTS AT CHURUBUSCO. The last time the Eagles were 0-3, they went on a four-game winning streak in 2024 that included a 30-6 victory over the Panthers. ‘Busco’s first three opponents are a combined 9-0 entering Week 4. Victory time in Turtle Town. BLITZ SAYS CHURUBUSCO BY 14.
PHALEN ACADEMY VS. BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN AT WOODLAN. Phalen Academy is out of Indianapolis and is fresh off a 2-0 forfeit victory over Tindley. Other than that, Blitz doesn’t know much. BLITZ SAYS BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN BY 11.
MISHAWAKA AT WARSAW. A big one in the NLC as the Tigers look to keep their undefeated record intact. These two teams have traded blows in recent years in the conference, with Warsaw taking it on the chin last year in a 42-21 loss on the road. Both teams want to run. The Tigers will have more success in doing so. BLITZ SAYS WARSAW BY 5.
