How blessed have we bet with the weather? Seriously, this Friday is shaping up to be another fabulous evening for football. Not too hot, not too cold, no rain.
We are due at some point to have a wet Friday. But hey, let’s enjoy it for now.
Like you will enjoy another week of picks from your buddy Blitz.
Last week: 17-4 (.809)
Overall: 73-23 (.760)
CARROLL AT SNIDER. While the Chargers are the team coming off a loss, Snider continues to not look the part of a typical Snider team. The big question here is if the Panthers defense can match up in the trenches and downfield in coverage. Snider’s two victories this year have come against teams a combined 1-7. BLITZ SAYS CARROLL BY 10.
NORTH SIDE AT BISHOP LUERS. That Legends offense continues to be electric, yet North has not beaten a team with a win this year, until now, that is. BLITZ SAYS NORTH SIDE BY 8.
NORTHROP AT CONCORDIA. The Bruins have Bishop Dwenger, Snider and Carroll coming up in successive weeks beginning next Friday. That makes this one on the road extremely important. BLITZ SAYS NORTHROP BY 34.
SOUTH SIDE AT WAYNE. The Archers have lost four straight in this matchup. That skid ends with a big night for South offensively. Keep an eye on Jayvon Irby, who scored both touchdowns for the Archers in a close loss to Bishop Luers last week. BLITZ SAYS SOUTH SIDE BY 8.
HOMESTEAD AT BISHOP DWENGER. The last three games in this season have each been decided by four points or less, including a three-point win for the Spartans last year. The Bishop Dwenger defense is extremely tough, and this Saints squad loves to win low-scoring, ugly games. If Homestead can find a way to get north of 20 points, Blitz likes its chances, but barring Dwenger mistakes, that’s an uphill climb. BLITZ SAYS BISHOP DWENGER BY 6.
DEKALB AT COLUMBIA CITY. What a week can do for your opinion about teams, right? Columbia City lost to Huntington North in Week 4, while DeKalb had East Noble beat before falling late. Can the Eagles recover? It’s all about the rushing attack for Coach Brett Fox’s team. Can the Barons bottle it up and steal one on the road? Not sure Coach Ryan Robertson’s team is there…yet. BLITZ SAYS COLUMBIA CITY BY 3.
HUNTINGTON NORTH AT BELLMONT. Congratulations to the Vikings, who have a win in one of their first two Northeast 8 games of a season for the first time…ever. BLITZ SAYS HUNTINGTON NORTH BY 39.
LEO AT EAST NOBLE. The traditional Week 5 showdown between bitter rivals. This tends to be merely Round 1 for this duo, who reside in the same sectional. East Noble has Rylee Biddle and a extremely strong defense, while Leo is really good in the trenches and features Nathan Foster. These games have been impossible to predict over the years, but Blitz thinks the Knights will be too much this time. BLITZ SAYS EAST NOBLE BY 7.
NORWELL AT NEW HAVEN. The Bulldogs’ schedule has been brutal, and give New Haven credit for playing hard for four quarters the last few weeks. Norwell’s schedule hasn’t been easy either, with a break finally coming last week against Bellmont. Is it so out of the realm of possibility that the Bulldogs could win this one? BLITZ SAYS NEW HAVEN BY 2.
BLUFFTON AT JAY COUNTY. The Tigers have scored 40 or more points in three-straight games. Bluffton has never eclipsed the 40-point mark four games in a row dating back to the program’s inception in 1920. Just sayin’. BLITZ SAYS BLUFFTON BY 40.
BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN AT SOUTH ADAMS. The Starfires get Adams Central next week. A tune-up of sorts in Berne on Friday. BLITZ SAYS SOUTH ADAMS BY 47.
HERITAGE AT ADAMS CENTRAL. The Flying Jets have won 10 straight in this series. Heritage will need Adams Central to be careless with the football to have a shot, as not sure how many defensive stops the Patriots can get. BLITZ SAYS ADAMS CENTRAL BY 27.
WOODLAN AT SOUTHERN WELLS. It was a struggle for the Woodlan defense the last two weeks, allowing 84 points combined to Heritage and Bluffton. Won’t have as much of an issue slowing down the Raiders. BLITZ SAYS WOODLAN BY 32.
CENTRAL NOBLE AT FREMONT. Good to see the Cougars get into the win column last week for the first time since 2023. Could they make it two in a row? This was a one-point victory for Fremont a season ago. BLITZ SAYS FREMONT BY 11.
CHURUBUSCO AT PRAIRIE HEIGHTS. The Eagles took command of the NECC Small Division with last week’s home win over Eastside. Now it instills its will on the other foes in the division. BLITZ SAYS CHURUBUSCO BY 19.
GARRETT AT EASTSIDE. There always seems to be a team every season that Blitz just can’t pick right. He picked the Blazers to lose to Woodlan and West Noble, they won both. He picked them to beat ‘Busco, they lost. Is it the kiss of death to take Eastside this week? If trends continue, yes it is. BLITZ SAYS EASTSIDE BY 3.
LAKELAND AT ANGOLA. The last two times in which the Hornets have hosted Lakeland, they have lost by a combined three points. This one is close as well, but Angola gets the dub this time. BLITZ SAYS ANGOLA BY 2.
WEST NOBLE AT FAIRFIELD. Coach Cory Stoner’s Falcons have scored 28 or more points in all four games this season. It has also allowed 20 or more points in all four games. Chargers will be too much in a matchup with plenty of points. BLITZ SAYS WEST NOBLE BY 6.
CONCORD AT WARSAW. A big one in the NLC. Everyone is chasing Mishawaka, including Warsaw, who will see the Cavemen in Week 7. First things first, though. BLITZ SAYS WARSAW BY 12.
