Recently, we unveiled our plan to name area programs’ top five players of the 21st century, which sits at 25 seasons in both football and basketball.
Reminder, this is based on high school career performance ONLY. This is by no means a definitive list and, if anything, is encouraging debate on potential omissions to this list.
Through exhaustive research, reaching out to former coaches and players and our own personal opinion, here is the OTH Quarter Century Team for Churubusco Eagles boys basketball.
Note: The list is in alphabetical order
Paul Forman
Forman was a one year player in the Churubusco system after moving over from Noble Whitley Homeschool, but he made a major impact. Forman powered Churubusco’s 22–4 squad to a NECC title in 2015, picked up IBCA Small-School All-State honors, and grabbed a February IBCA Player of the Week nod with a 31.3 ppg and 9.3 rpg stretch in late February of his senior year. He averaged 21.2 points and 9.5 rebounds per game while also hitting 83.7 percent of his free throws. Forman went on to play at Bethel, where he scored 1,380 career points.
Cody Jones
Jones was a double-double machine throughout his Churubusco career. As a junior in 2004–05 he posted 20.2 points and 12.0 rebounds per game, appearing on the IHSAA’s statewide statistical leaderboards. Jones scored 31 points in his senior season Sectional game win over Central Noble and then 26 in a semi final loss to wrap up his Eagles career. As a senior, Jones averaged 21.2 points, 12 rebounds and three assists per game. He finished his time at Churubusco with 1,450 career points and 817 career rebounds.
Landen Jordan
Jordan was a double-double machine for Churubusco, debuting in 2019–20 after moving to Churubusco with 15.6 points and 12.1 rebounds per game as a junior. As a senior, he leveled those up at 19.3 points and 13.4 rebounds per game while piling up school records for single-season and single-game rebounds. He earned NECC All-Conference and IBCA Small-School All-State honors and anchored the paint for a program that won big throughout his tenure including back-to-back Sectional titles. He went on to star at Huntington and is now at Oral Roberts to finish his college career.
Jackson Paul
A dynamic guard, Paul powered Churubusco to back-to-back sectionals, closing his senior year at 23.2 points, 6.2 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 3.9 steals per game with program records in assists and wins and a massive 1,751 career points; his senior season of 604 points was just the second season of 600 or more points in program history. During his junior season, Paul averaged 19.0 points, 5.3 assists, 4.9 RPG and 2.6 steals. A multi-year All-NECC pick and IBCA All-State honoree, he was also a Hoosier Basketball Magazine Top-60 Senior before continuing his career at Huntington University.
Jalen Paul
Paul transferred to Churubusco for his senior year and immediately elevated the Eagles — averaging 22.1 points and 8.4 assists, breaking school assist records (19 in a game, 218 in a season), earning a spot among Hoosier Basketball Magazine’s Top 60 Seniors, and steering Busco to its first ever sectional championship. He finished with 1,699 career points across his total high school career at Canterbury and Churubusco before moving on to play in college.
