Recently, we unveiled our plan to name area programs’ top five players of the 21st century, which sits at 25 seasons in both football and basketball.
What better way to tip off the basketball side then tackling arguably one of, if not THE most difficult, top fives around? And trust me, it was quite difficult to narrow this program down to just five players.
Reminder, this is based on high school career performance ONLY. This is by no means a definitive list and, if anything, is encouraging debate on potential omissions to this list.
Through exhaustive research, reaching out to former coaches and players and our own personal opinion, here is the OTH Quarter Century Team for Norwell Knights girls basketball.
Note: The list is in alphabetical order
Stephanie Conrad
An IBCA All-State selection as a senior, Conrad’s 1,091 career points was the third most at Norwell upon graduation – a mark that sits at 7th today. Her 35 points in a single game, coming against New Haven in the 2015-16 season was tied as the most all-time for Norwell before being broken four times since. She averaged 18.8 points per game as a senior while leading Norwell to a 23-3 mark, tied for the most wins by the program this quarter century. She is in the top 10 of single season rebounds for the program twice and ended her career as Norwell’s second best rebounded ever with 614.
Kennedy Fuelling
Fuelling was a more than lethal guard, known for having one of Northeast Indiana’s best shots during her career. As a senior, she led the Knights to the Class 3A state finals and was named the Outside the Huddle Player of the Year. As a senior in 2023-2024, Fuelling averaged an area best 21.4 points per game to go with 3.8 steals and was named IBCA All-State Supreme 15 for the second straight season while becoming the program’s all-time leading scorer with 1,650 career points. Among her many Norwell records that she broke were most points in a game (40 as a junior) and most three pointers made in a game (11), season and career.
Vanessa Rosswurm
Rosswurm’s development exploded as a sophomore and as a junior, leading the Knights to their long awaited state title in 2025. She was an Indiana Junior All-Star and averaged an impressive 22.4 points per game. Also during her junior season, Rosswurm broke the school’s all-time single game scoring mark with 43 points against Concordia and later scored 41 points in a Sectional title game against Bellmont. Her junior season stands as the best scoring season in Norwell girls basketball history. As a sophomore Rosswurm averaged 11.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per contest as Norwell was the state runner up.
Jessica Rupright
Rupright was simply dominant at Norwell, especially as an upperclassman, winning Miss Basketball in her senior season in 2012 after averaging 21 points and eight rebounds per game. Those numbers are actually slightly lower than her junior year numbers when she averaged 21 points and 10 rebounds as her team went 21-3. Rupright was all-conference three years, set Norwell career records in points (1,591) and rebounds (728), then went on to play at Miami of Ohio.
Maiah Shelton
Part of a power trio in her graduating class, Shelton stood out as someone with a tremendously well rounded game. As a junior, she logged 14.8 PPG and 6.6 RPG, supplemented by 2.2 APG and 2.3 SPG – demonstrating her multi-faceted impact on the court. During her senior year, Shelton led the Knights to Northeast 8, Sectional and Regional titles while she averaged 17.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. She was named IBCA Senior All-State and was a three time all-area player and finished fourth all-time in Norwell scoring and finished in the top 5 in all-time rebounds and assists.
