Outside the Huddle and Blitz are counting down who they feel are the top 50 individual players in northeast Indiana heading into the 2025 season.

Our highest preseason honor, the 7th annual First Eleven profiles the top players (in the mind of Outside the Huddle) entering the fall.

No. 8: DE/OLB Ayle Taylor, senior, Bishop Luers

One half of the brotherly terror squad with sibling Jarron along the Bishop Luers defensive front, Ayle Taylor is an absolute menace.

His versatility is his strong point. At 6-foot-4 and a touch over 200 pounds, Taylor is big and long enough to win battles with offensive linemen and quick enough to drop back from his edge spot, cover a tight end or someone out of the backfield or just “sit” in the middle of the defense and dare a quarterback to throw over the middle.

As a junior, Taylor led the Knights in tackles for loss (24) and sacks (10) to go with 69 tackles, 18 QB hurries and an interception against Homestead.

Taylor can put his hand on the ground in a three-point stance or he can be vertical on the edge. His finishing ability on quarterbacks and ball carriers is sound and he is a problem that offenses must account for in pre-snap every single play.

COACH’S QUOTE ON AYLE TAYLOR: “Ayle is a young man with high character and a passion to get the most out of his abilities. His intensity is unmatched on the field, evident in his eyes when he is in pursuit of the ball. He’s a skilled pass rusher who can drop into coverage and change a game or lock down an edge against the run. His versatility and size has made him a legit collegiate prospect. We’re very excited to see the best of Ayle this season.”– Bishop Luers coach Kyle Lindsay
