This is an off and on week with the holidays here. We won’t see a major slate of games, but still some fun matchups throughout the week.
Lets get into it.
LAST WEEK: 12-4 (5-1 Girls, 7-3 boys)
THIS SEASON: 76-35
BOYS GAMES
Warsaw vs. Bishop Luers, Thursday at Richmond HS
The annual Bob Wettig Tournament hosted by Richmond has just three area teams participating this year but what a first round matchup between two of them and it happens at 9 am. Warsaw has proven themselves to be incredibly elite and their two losses at last week’s Hall of Fame Classic doesn’t change anything here. Luers has looked pretty flawless so far in their performanes too. This could very well end up being the best game for any NE Indiana teams this season, just a shame it isn’t happening in NE Indiana and is at 9 am. BOUNCE PICKS WARSAW
South Bend Adams at Huntington North, Thursday
Huntington North gets the benefit of a solid home game here as part of this event. They will get a really strong, athletic look here from Adams. The question remains if anyone can consistently slow down Ethan Zahn in this game? BOUNCE PICKS HUNTINGTON NORTH
Snider vs. Mishawaka Marian, Thursday at Huntington North
Marian comes in 6-3, but is 0-2 against OTH area teams with losses to Blackhawk Christian and Bishop Luers. The ball has been moving well lately for the Panthers, so you know I have to go with the homer pick, right? BOUNCE PICKS SNIDER
East Noble at Central Noble, Friday
East Noble has gotten some of its mojo back and at least one injured player with Mason Treesh’s return last Saturday. A county rivalry game is always fun and both of these two teams can take a lot from a win here. BOUNCE PICKS EAST NOBLE
Blackhawk Christian at Columbia City, Friday
Columbia City has been a pleasant surprise for Bounce and I am not afraid to admit it. There is a high level of intrigue to see BC’s Kellen Pickett and CC’s Caidyn Berna battle around the rim. BOUNCE PICKS BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN
Fremont at Woodlan, Friday
Fremont put themselves through the paces last week by heading to LaPorte’s shootout. It wasn’t easy but that was the point, right? They will have to play big here and if they can hold back Oliver Adams of Woodlan from getting positioning inside, its a big help. Woodlan is coming off a rough, rough loss to Wayne so are they hungry or defeated? BOUNCE PICKS FREMONT
Lakewood Park at Bluffton, Saturday
Bluffton is yet another team that could use a good win after back-to-back losses to Garrett and Norwell. The Tigers haven’t looked bad at all in those games but especially against Norwell, they didn’t have the depth they needed offensively. Lakewood Park’s Avery MacFarlane will be a real problem unless Kaleb Green has a big game. Also keep in mind, we saw Nolan Lambert get hot for Bluffton in the Norwell loss with five three pointers. The travel is long for LP and that may be a difference maker. BOUNCE PICKS BLUFFTON
Leo at Homestead, Saturday
This was such a good game last year and you have to expect the same thing this time around. Homestead’s depth stands out right now and they are coming off a great BSN Classic at their own place last week. Its hard to pick against Chris Johnson and company right now. BOUNCE PICKS HOMESTEAD
GIRLS GAMES
Bishop Luers at Fremont, Thursday
The Luers girls had a good showing at last weekend Max Platt Tournament and they have to be hoping that it can lead them into a good conclusion of the season. Fremont, on the other hand, can really make a statement with a win over the Knights as they haven’t beat a SAC school not named North Side or Wayne in the last decade. BOUNCE PICKS FREMONT
Lake Central at Homestead, Thursday
Another great test for the Spartans, who just played the best of the best with mixed results last week in New Castle. Homestead’s scoring is top notch right now on a variety of levels and Whitney Ankenbruck’s work last week only strengthens Homestead as we approach the unofficial “midway” of girls season. BOUNCE PICKS HOMESTEAD
East Noble at Central Noble, Friday
Part of the county rivalry double header and with just as much intrigue on the boys side. The East Noble girls, when they are consistent, have been a really good team this season. And for Central Noble, it almost feels like many (maybe Bounce included) are sleeping on the Cougars and their really balanced scoring efforts. BOUNCE PICKS CENTRAL NOBLE
Concordia at Woodlan, Friday
Have you been watching what Alyssa Anderson is doing for Woodlan? She is the biggest interior threat in the area right now and it really has not mattered who Woodlan is playing or the outcome of the game, Anderson is a menace. That does matter in the outcome of this one though. BOUNCE PICKS WOODLAN
Bellmont at Eastside, Friday
Its gonna be a couple of days for Bellmont. The Braves will get the chance to really show where they are after weeks and weeks of being one of those teams of interest in polls like the IBCA. Game one of this may or may not be the most difficult but the road game aspect could make it harder. On the flip, this is the best opponent that unbeaten Eastside has seen yet. This is going to be a fantastic game. BOUNCE PICKS EASTSIDE
Bluffton at Bellmont, Saturday
Bluffton will make the trip to Decatur for Bellmont’s second tough game in a row. How much will Friday night come into play for Bellmont, both positive and/or negative? That isn’t something you always have to think about in a back to back but considering the gravity of Bellmont’s opponents this week, it matters. Remember what I said above? Expect another fantastic game where the point spread may even be less than Friday night. BOUNCE PICKS BELLMONT
Noblesville vs. Northrop, Saturday at Huntington Univ.
This noon tip game is a major test for the Bruins and their defensive stylings. Noblesville are winners of their last six, including a two point overtime win just last week over Norwell. The Knights’ offensive depth was a problem for Noblesville at times and we know the Bruins are capable of the same. Expect a shootout. BOUNCE PICKS NORTHROP
