It takes everyone about a week to get the kinks out, right?
Last week’s picks weren’t up to my usual standard, but there’s plenty room for improvement. This week features several key matchups that could go either way, so I’ll need to bring my A-game.
LAST WEEK: 8-5
2022-23 RECORD: 8-5 (.615)
Bethany Christian at Central Noble, Tuesday
Both teams come into this matchup with a zero in the loss column, and both teams have won in convincing fashion so far. Expect a defensive battle with the hot, early shooting of Meghan Kiebel being the difference. BOUNCE PICKS CENTRAL NOBLE
Carroll at Huntington North, Tuesday
I’ll admit I didn’t expect the Chargers AND the Vikings to be both 2-0 at this point. Huntington North has picked up some quality wins over Snider and Carmel. Credit to coach Matt Hinds getting his team ready early on after the loss of talent during the offseason. That being said, Bounce loves the Chargers in this once. BOUNCE PICKS CARROLL
Columbia City at Snider, Tuesday
The Eagles will need to stop Jordyn Poole to win this game. Simple as that. Can they do it? Their defense has been pretty stout so far. BOUNCE PICKS COLUMBIA CITY
Eastside at Leo, Tuesday
The Lions are another NE8 team that is off to a solid start. Leo has won three straight with good wins over Wayne and Blackhawk Christian. This will be the first test of the season for the Blazers and the 1-2 punch of Leah May and Haylee Schott will be tough to hold down. BOUNCE PICKS LEO
Bishop Dwenger at Bellmont, Tuesday
Whichever team can dictate the pace will win this one. If the pace is slow, that favors the Saints. If it’s an up-and-down contest, the Braves win. BOUNCE PICKS BELLMONT
Norwell at Homestead, Tuesday
The best game of the evening. Both Norwell and Homestead have taken care of business to make this a battle of unbeatens. Bounce expects a back-and-forth battle, which favors the Spartans. BOUNCE PICKS HOMESTEAD.
DeKalb at Garrett, Friday
This rivalry game hasn’t been close the last three years. This time will be different because Bounce thinks the Barons have more scoring options than the Railroaders. BOUNCE PICKS DEKALB
Eastside at Angola, Friday
The Hornets have beaten pretty good a couple of times already this season while the Blazers have faced little resistance. Eastside hasn’t defeated Angola since the turn of the century. Don’t expect that to change. BOUNCE PICKS ANGOLA
Bishop Luers at Snider, Friday
The Panthers are in need of a quality win. If they don’t get it against Columbia City on Tuesday, they should get it here. BOUNCE PICKS SNIDER
Woodlan at Leo, Friday
This one also falls into the category of: it could go either way. Bounce expects it to be close and both teams have shown they can win when it’s a single-possession game. Avah Smith will be the difference. BOUNCE PICKS WOODLAN
Carroll at Carmel, Saturday
Northeast Indiana is 2-for-2 against the Greyhounds after Homestead and Huntington North both earned double-digit wins over Carmel. Can the Chargers make it 3-for-3? Bounce believes so. BOUNCE PICKS CARROLL
Central Noble at DeKalb, Saturday
Another one that could go either way. Both teams have taken that necessary step with the amount of returners you need to do so. The Cougars are shooting it really well, which was emphasized in the offseason. BOUNCE PICKS CENTRAL NOBLE
Fairfield at Columbia City, Saturday
Neither team will allow you to do much on offense. Both defenses are suffocating, so points will be at a premium. When it’s this close, Bounce loves home court. BOUNCE PICKS COLUMBIA CITY
Homestead at Noblesville, Saturday
The Millers handed the Spartans their only two losses of the 2021-22 season, including in the regional semifinals. Both wins were by 21 points. Noblesville returns a pair of key returners who played in both of those games, Meredith Tippner and Reagan Wilson. Those two can flat out score. BOUNCE PICKS NOBLESVILLE
Crown Points vs. Warsaw, Saturday
The Tigers allowed just seven points to LaPorte on Saturday. The Slicers had zero points at halftime. Warsaw will need its defense against two quality points in the Duneland-Northern Lakes Classic at Northridge. I think the Tigers start off the classic with a victory. BOUNCE PICKS WARSAW
