No. 10 – Trace Maller, Adams Central

Maller enters the 2023-24 season as arguably the best player in the ACAC and the centerpiece of Adams Central’s pursuit of continued conference dominance. A versatile wing, Maller showcased his all-around skill set last season, averaging 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals per game while playing as the third scoring option. This year, he steps into the role of the go-to player for the Jets, bringing scoring, defensive intensity, and leadership to the forefront. His ability to impact the game on both ends of the court makes him a matchup problem.

COACH’S QUOTE MALLER

“Trace Maller is an explosive shooting guard for Adams Central.  He was a first team all-conference player in the ACAC as a junior.  His biggest strength is his athleticism as his vertical leap is north of 35″.   He is a three level player who can score at the rim, with mid-range jump-shots and is a really good three point shooter.  I have been pleased with his leadership over the course of the summer and fall and we expect him to have a great season for the Jets.” – Adams Central coach Aaron McClure

No. 9 – Jaiyre Sampson, Leo

Sampson emerged as one of Northeast Indiana’s top breakout players last season at Carroll, making a significant impact with his ability to score and facilitate. Now transitioning to Leo, he brings his impressive averages of 14.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game to a Lions team eager for his dynamic playmaking and scoring ability. Sampson’s knack for energizing the game with his intensity and skill will be a huge asset for Leo, as they look to him to lead offensively and set the tone on the court.

COACH’S QUOTE SAMPSON

“Extremely excited to be able to coach Jaiyre. Everyone in the area knows that he has a lot of dynamic ability, but he is also an outstanding young man who is eager to show all he is capable of this year. He is going to make us a better team on and off the court. Really looking forward to seeing all he can do this year.” – Leo coach Derek Hinen

Last season, Dillard averaged 12.4 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game, showcasing his ability to dominate on both ends of the floor. As Wayne sets out to defend its SAC crown, Dillard’s continued growth and presence in the post will undoubtedly be a major factor in the team’s pursuit of another championship season.

COACH’S QUOTE DILLARD

“Trey Dillard has been the anchor for our defense for the last three seasons. He has averaged a double/double for his career and continues to work knowing that he still has a ton still to prove. During the off-season he worked diligently to add to his game. Trey’s work ethic is top-tier and his basketball intelligence makes him a difficult match up.” – Wayne coach Anthony Brewer
