BLITZ: East Noble just continues to prove this bear wrong

“East Noble loves football.”

Those were the words head coach Alex Stewart said with a grin while describing his team and their fan base after last Friday’s sectional championship victory.

And if you didn’t already know, let Blitz tell you… he isn’t wrong.

The East Noble faithful packed Shields Field on Friday night to witness perhaps its best game of the season, as the Knights once again proved Blitz wrong, and claimed their first sectional crown since 2020 with a commanding 38-0 victory over Bishop Dwenger.

The win improved the Knights to 11-1 on the year, their best mark through 12 games since 2019.

Yeah, it’s easy to see why East Noble loves football.

The Knights are on a run reminiscent of the 2019 season, when they made a trip all the way to the Class 4A title game. But believe it or not, they’ve been even more dominant this year than they were five years ago.

Led by Bailey Parker, that 2019 team could score in bunches – and so can this one. But it’s the defense that has defined this team.

In three postseason games, they’ve allowed a total of seven points. And for the season, they’re allowing just an average of 9.5 points per contest.

“I think we have one of the best defenses in the state,” said Rylee Biddle. “It’s just doing your job and trusting the other guy to do their job.”

As good as they have been on defense, the Knights’ offense continues to overwhelm opponents.

Spearheaded by the dynamic duo of Dylan Krehl and Dallas Plattner at running back, who each rushed for 100-plus yards and a touchdown on Friday, they continue to bully teams up-and-down the field.

In three postseason games, they’ve averaged nearly 35 points per contest and for the entire season, they’re outscoring teams by nearly 30 points a night.

“We’ve preached we want to be playing our best football going into the tournament, and be playing our best football in November,” said Stewart. “And I believe we’re there right now.”

And hey, maybe Blitz should believe that himself and stop betting against the Knights.
