AIDEN HUNT, GARRETT
The goal is simple for Garrett in week 6: stop the West Noble run. This is going to certainly be a multifaceted defensive approach for the unbeaten Railroaders. He has four sacks to lead the team and his ability to get into the opposing backfield will remain an important task moving forward. Hunt has 15 total tackles on the season but is second on the team in tackles for loss.
JORDAN EASH, WEST NOBLE
The Chargers’ best defensive player will likewise hope to give them the edge in the NECC big division showdown on Friday night with Garrett. He holds a team co-high 31 tackles, but with 11.5 of them coming for an opposing loss. Eash has also registered five sacks and has forced two fumbles for the unbeaten Chargers, who have given up just 23 total points through five weeks.
KALEB MINGER, SOUTH ADAMS
It is rivalry week for the Starfires as they host Adams Central and its always a fun week of build. For the Starfires to contend with the ACAC frontrunner, they will need to be able to slow down the Flying Jets offense and that means looking to Minger. The junior’s 47 tackles leads the way in Berne, coming in just a hair under averaging double digit tackles per game, while also pacing the team with three sacks and three fumble recoveries. He had all three of those sacks last Friday night and two weeks ago he posted a season high 16 tackles.
JAMES EARLY, NORTH SIDE
Early has been another defensive menace for a team that gets a lot of credit on the offensive end. His six sacks is a co-team high but also one of the best sack totals in Northeast Indiana this season. The senior has 27 total tackles this season with 12 going for a loss. He also has a blocked field goal to his name this season. The biggest part for Early’s push into this week is that all six of his sacks have come in the last two Friday nights. He will look to continue that Friday night as he tries to spoil Bishop Luers’ homecoming game.
ELI NEUHOSER, CARROLL
Coming off a week where you hold Snider to just six points is great for any defense and now Carroll gets a Wayne offense that can really move the ball in chunks too. Neuhoser has been fantastic for the Chargers, leading the way with 44 tackles (8.8 per game). The sophomore also has a sack and a fumble recovery for his first half of the season stat line. Neuhoser had 11 tackles last week in the win over Snider, the third week this season he has hit double digit tackles.
