PREP FOOTBALL: Blitz’s Picks, Week 4

Blitz does not hold grudges.

OK, maybe he does. Sometimes.

But Blitz will try not to hold it against East Noble for costing him a perfect week of picks last week.

It was a bit of a reach for Huntington North to knock off the Knights, but Blitz went for it. Kudos to East Noble for going on the road and getting the dub.

But you’re on Blitz’s list.

Last week: 19-1 (.950)

Overall: 59-16 (.786)

CARROLL AT BISHOP DWENGER. This matchup continues to grow into more of a rivalry each year. It’s not outright hostility, but there are some feelings here that seem to simmer hotter and hotter every fall. Henry Jordan will be back at QB1 for the Saints, which is huge. But the question remains, can Dwenger keep up on the scoreboard if this one becomes a shootout? The Saints must limit Jimmy Sullivan and the Carroll offense. BLITZ SAYS CARROLL BY 2.

CONCORDIA AT NORTH SIDE. Both of these teams suffered tough losses in Week 3. Blitz feels the inability of the Legends’ offense to do much last week will be fuel for this Friday. BLITZ SAYS NORTH SIDE BY 22.

SNIDER AT SOUTH SIDE. The Panthers have shut out South in four of the last five games that they have played. Can they make it five out of six? The Archers score, but this one isn’t close. BLITZ SAYS SNIDER BY 41.

WAYNE AT BISHOP LUERS. Will this end up being the deciding game of the SAC’s ‘B’ Division? Wayne has the potential to win this, it just needs to execute for a full four quarters, particularly offensively. This one is close. BLITZ SAYS BISHOP LUERS BY 3.

HOMESTEAD AT NORTHROP. Will he or won’t he? That’s the question in regards to Northrop QB David Callison and whether he will suit up in this one or not due to injury. Homestead showed its potential last week in the first half against Wayne, but is still seeking a dominant performance all game. BLITZ SAYS HOMESTEAD BY 14.

DEKALB AT EAST NOBLE. The backbone of DeKalb’s offense is its running game, which is averaging over five yards per carry as a team. East Noble has shown it is adept at taking away a team’s ability to move the chains on the ground. Strength v. Strength here. BLITZ SAYS EAST NOBLE BY 9.

HUNTINGTON NORTH AT COLUMBIA CITY. We seem to just take Columbia City’s Stratton Fuller for granted at this point. He has scored seven touchdowns through three games and his impact on defense and special teams is immeasurable. He is phenomenal and Blitz sure is gonna miss watching him play locally. BLITZ SAYS COLUMBIA CITY BY 19.

LEO AT NEW HAVEN. You could argue that last year Leo got caught looking ahead a bit to Week 5’s showdown with East Noble. New Haven took the Lions to OT a year ago. Don’t forget though, the Bulldogs were a very good squad last season. Leo isn’t worrying about East Noble. Not yet anyway. BLITZ SAYS LEO BY 26.

NORWELL AT BELLMONT. Combined, these two teams have been outscored 281-27 this season. Someone has to win, right? Those are the rules of football. BLITZ SAYS NORWELL BY 8.

JAY COUNTY AT ADAMS CENTRAL. The Flying Jets are a perfect 10-for-10 against Jay County in this matchup’s history. It should be no issue to make that 11-for-11. BLITZ SAYS ADAMS CENTRAL BY 32.

SOUTH ADAMS AT HERITAGE. As soon as next season, the favorite in this game could be switched. But as it is now, Heritage has the experienced talent and the Starfires are trying to find themselves with some young dudes. BLITZ SAYS HERITAGE BY 16.

SOUTHERN WELLS AT WES-DEL. The Raiders are in the midst of three-straight road games. This is the one that they could be the most competitive in. Blitz would love to see it happen, but…BLITZ SAYS WES-DEL BY 33.

WOODLAN AT BLUFFTON. Junior wideout AJ Streveler is averaging 22.5 yards per reception through three games. The Bluffton offense is just going to be too much in this one. BLITZ SAYS BLUFFTON BY 28.

CENTRAL NOBLE AT PRAIRIE HEIGHTS. This is actually an intriguing matchup, with Central Noble still searching for win No. 1 on the year. Heights has lost 10 straight in the series, including twice last year. Could the Panthers end the streak? BLITZ SAYS PRAIRIE HEIGHTS BY 2.

CHURUBUSCO AT EASTSIDE. It has been a tough few weeks for the Blazers, two-consecutive shutouts in lopsided losses. ‘Busco comes at the right time for Coach Alyx Brandewie’s team that needs an infusion of confidence despite still being the favorite in the NECC Small School Division. BLITZ SAYS EASTSIDE BY 21.

CULVER ACADEMY AT FAIRFIELD. This was a fun game last year, with Fairfield grabbing an overtime victory. This one won’t be as much fun, as Culver is a solid, experienced team that comes into this one undefeated. BLITZ SAYS CULVER ACADEMY BY BY 22.

FREMONT AT PARK TUDOR. Fremont just can’t score, only six points total through three games. It will be more of the same on the road this Friday. BLITZ SAYS PARK TUDOR BY 39.

LAKELAND AT GARRETT. Oooo boy, this one is going to be fun. This is an elimination game of sorts, with the winner putting themselves in prime position to earn the Big Division title with a win later on against West Noble. Lakeland has the offense, but Garrett has the confidence and spunk. Hoping for a fun one, as this will be where Blitz is at on Friday. BLITZ SAYS GARRETT BY 1.

WEST NOBLE AT ANGOLA. This has been a back-and-forth series for awhile now. However, West Noble’s offense is an absolute machine, a machine that Blitz has a hard time believing Angola can slow down enough to gain a win. BLITZ SAYS WEST NOBLE BY 20.

WARSAW AT WAWASEE. It has been a tough start to Coach Matt Thacker’s tenure at Wawasee, the former coach at Fairfield. It won’t get much better this week. BLITZ SAYS WARSAW BY 37.

OSCEOLA GRACE AT BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN. After a one-week hiatus, BC is back at it with a Saturday afternoon game at Zollner Stadium. This one was close last year. How about it, the Braves get a dub? BLITZ SAYS BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN BY 4.
