BLITZ’S PICKS: Week 11

Outside of Week 1, this Friday is the best of the season.

All six classes are in action for the first time in the playoffs, and we still have plenty of area teams in most classes to talk about and pick.

After this weekend, we are handing out hardware to winners every Friday through Thanksgiving.

Let’s get to it.

Last week: 16-5 (.761)

Overall: 176-39 (.818)

CARROLL AT WARSAW. Not to oversimplify things, but this matchup comes down to one thing – can Carroll stop the run? When Reed Zollinger runs amok, Warsaw wins. When he doesn’t, the Tigers lose. Are the Chargers up to the challenge? BLITZ SAYS CARROLL BY 13.

FISHERS AT HOMESTEAD. How Blitz misses the day of an all-local 6A sectional. The Spartans likely miss it too. Homestead hasn’t scored a point in the postseason since 2021. It will get on the board in this one, but not enough to pull out the win. BLITZ SAYS FISHERS BY 14.

HAMILTON SOUTHEASTERN AT NORTHROP. The Bruins have one playoff victory in 18 years. BLITZ SAYS HSE BY 34.

ANDERSON AT SNIDER. The Panthers are scoring 38 points per game. Anderson averages 38 points per game. Synergy! BLITZ SAYS SNIDER BY 38.

BISHOP DWENGER AT DEKALB. Too many folks are overlooking this game. DeKalb can score points. Caiden Hinkle at RB. Caden Pettis at WR. The Barons are no joke. Bishop Dwenger is playing well, but where is its head after an impressive win over Wayne last week? DeKalb is 0-3 all-time against the Saints. Maybe it’s a reach, but whatever…BLITZ SAYS DEKALB BY 2.

EAST NOBLE AT LEO. The Lions have won five straight in the series, the longest win streak for either team over the course of this rivalry. East Noble has peaked at the right time, particularly defensively, which already had success in slowing down Leo in the regular-season matchup. But remember last year when the first game was close and the rematch in sectional wasn’t? It’s all about adjustments and execution. Which side checks both boxes? BLITZ SAYS LEO BY 9.

MISSISSINEWA AT COLUMBIA CITY. Is Ole Miss good or just good in the CIC? Both teams have losses this season to Norwell. The Indians have a prolific passing attack, which plays into the hands of the strength of the Columbia City defense. Yet undefeated is undefeated at this point in the season. Can the Eagles keep up if this becomes a shootout? BLITZ SAYS COLUMBIA CITY BY 1.

FAIRFIELD AT GLENN. The defense of the Falcons has found some momentum the past two weeks, allowing a total of six points. Glenn is good, but Blitz picked against Fairfield last week and regretted it. Fool me once…BLITZ SAYS FAIRFIELD BY 3.

WEST NOBLE AT KNOX. Battle of undefeateds! The Chargers have been so good, even lucky at times, in close contests. Wawasee in Week 2. Holding off Lakeland in Week 7. The comeback last week against Mishawaka Marian. It has been exciting. But here is where the run ends. Knox has a multi-faceted offense every bit as powerful as West Noble. BLITZ SAYS KNOX BY 6.

GARRETT AT HERITAGE. An underappreciated matchup based on how the young Garrett defense has played this season. The Railroaders have given good teams fits this year because of their ability to neutralize a team’s offensive strengths. Yet Heritage is so balanced offensively it is tough to key on just one thing. This one may be closer than some expect, but the Patriots move on. BLITZ SAYS HERITAGE BY 14.

EASTSIDE AT BISHOP LUERS. Another year, another postseason matchup between the Blazers and Knights. Last week’s struggles for Luers surely got the roster’s attention on how important it is to be locked in each and every week of the playoffs. That lesson at ‘Busco pays dividends in this one. BLITZ SAYS BISHOP LUERS BY 13.

CENTRAL NOBLE AT MANCHESTER. Both teams move the ball via the run. Who runs the ball better? BLITZ SAYS MANCHESTER BY 4.

EASTBROOK AT BLUFFTON. Blitz likes this matchup for the Tigers. Eastbrook is good, but far from a ‘vintage’ Eastbrook squad in terms of its dominance. What Coach Brent Kunkel needs to guard against is overconfidence, with Bluffton having knocked off Eastbrook last season. BLITZ SAYS BLUFFTON BY 14.

ADAMS CENTRAL AT SOUTHWOOD. Two teams familiar with each other due to numerous postseason matchups over the years. This year’s matchup is as lopsided as any in recent memory. BLITZ SAYS ADAMS CENTRAL BY 38.
