SOURCES: Mike Smith no longer the head football coach at Woodlan

Woodlan coach Mike Smith works with his team prior to a game against Central Noble in 2021.

Outside the Huddle has learned through multiple sources that Mike Smith is no longer the head football coach at Woodlan, effective immediately.

After rumors circulated on Monday morning about the move, OTH was able to confirm the news through multiple parties.

An email has been sent to Woodlan athletic director Robert Berkley for comment. No response has been received as of the publishing of this story.

Smith returned to the sidelines last Friday from a two-game absence, with assistants directing the Warriors in the interim. It is unknown who will substitute for Smith the remainder of the season. The Warriors wrap up their regular season at Adams Central on Friday and will open the postseason on Oct. 20 in a home game against Heritage.

Woodlan is 2-6 this season after a 48-20 loss to South Adams last Friday.

Smith was in his fourth year leading the Warriors football program. He finishes his tenure with a 10-28 record.
