Bounce’s Picks for the Week of December 5

Another week goes by and we are in the heart of December.

I picked 16 games last week and did pretty well. Let’s do it again.

LAST WEEK: 12-4

2022-23 RECORD: 40-15 (.727)

Girls

Jay County at Muncie Central, Tuesday

Since their overtime loss to Hamilton Heights, the Patriots have rarely been challenged. Renna Schwieterman has been on a tear and doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. BOUNCE PICKS JAY COUNTY

Garrett at Westview, Tuesday

Don’t look now but the Warriors are still unbeaten in NECC play. The continued improvement under Ryan Yoder is tremendous. Hope Bortner has turned into a legit scorer, and she’ll duke it out with another elite scorer in Bailey Kelham. BOUNCE PICKS WESTVIEW

Carroll at Warsaw, Wednesday

Carroll went 1-3 last week in what might be the toughest stretch of its season. The Tigers provide another tough matchup but Bounce believes the Chargers win this one. BOUNCE PICKS CARROLL

South Adams at Blackhawk Christian, Thursday

Neither team is high-powered offensively so expect a tight battle throughout. BOUNCE PICKS SOUTH ADAMS

Wayne at Snider, Friday

Wayne should take care of a 1-9 Marion squad on Tuesday, which means one of these winning streaks has to end. Both teams are out of an earlier season funk. Snider has to stop either Sydney Gorman outside or Aniah Hill inside. It’ll be tonight to stop both. BOUNCE PICKS WAYNE

Lakeland at Bethany Christian, Saturday

After losing its first three games of the season, the Lakers have won five out of their last six. The role players around Peyton Hartsough are coming into form and are making Lakeland a deeper team, which will come in handy against a solid Bruins squad. BOUNCE PICKS LAKELAND

Northrop at Mishawaka Marian, Saturday

So it’s Northrop and the everyone else in the area, right? Don’t expect me to pick against them anytime soon. BOUNCE PICKS NORTHROP

Homestead at Notre Dame Academy, Saturday

The Spartans have faced the Eagles six times in the last seven years and have only lost once. When Homestead has the playmakers, like it has this year, it doesn’t lose this game. BOUNCE PICKS HOMESTEAD.

Boys

Norwell at Bishop Dwenger, Tuesday

It’s the first game of the season for the Saints and they need to come fire out of the gates because the Knights have looked really good since losing its season opener to Carroll. BOUNCE PICKS NORWELL

Wabash at Adams Central, Wednesday

First game of the year as well for the Flying Jets. AC is the favorite to win the ACAC and has a lot coming back. They need to get off on the right foot and should. BOUNCE PICKS ADAMS CENTRAL

Westview at NorthWood, Thursday

The Panthers are for real and the Warriors are better than expected. NorthWood just played two games in less than 24 hours. It rolled Triton then lost to reigning Class 3A state champion Beech Grove at Brownsburg. A big ask for the Warriors to stop Cade Brenner and the size of the Panthers. BOUNCE PICKS NORTHWOOD

Carroll at Concordia, Friday

Two emphatic wins for the Chargers to start the second season under Ryan Abbott. Carroll put up nearly 100 at East Noble. They showed they can score and will against the Cadets. BOUNCE PICKS CARROLL

South Side at North Side, Friday

A pair of rivals that have struggled out of the gate. Both need wins to get the ball rolling. North has the better talent, which should take over in the end. BOUNCE PICKS NORTH SIDE

Wayne at Snider, Friday

Wayne’s defense feasted against Leo and they should do so against Snider, which is just getting its season started. BOUNCE PICKS WAYNE

Eastside at Prairie Heights, Saturday

The Panthers and Blazers have some close early wins. Prairie Heights has the more experienced scorers in Chase Bachelor and Isaiah Malone. They should take over in this one. BOUNCE PICKS PRAIRIE HEIGHTS

Homestead at New Haven, Saturday

The Spartans have multiple guys to throw at Derrion Brooks. They’ve shown they can slow down a top scorer. They held Warsaw’s Jaxson Gould to just eight points in the win last Friday. BOUNCE PICKS HOMESTEAD
