
After a final round of over 8,100 votes, Homestead’s Alison Stephens is YOUR choice for the girls basketball Preseason Player of the Year.
Stephens earned 63.75 percent of the final round vote to beat out Norwell’s Makenzie Fuess.
Stephens was the 6th seed coming out of the first Regional round of fan voting, but was the top vote getter in the Hunter Region, named after former OTH Player of the Year Grace Hunter.
In the quarterfinals, she beat out Woodlan’s Avah Smith with 72.38 percent of the vote
In the semi finals, Stephens earned more votes than Columbia City’s Molly Baker with 87.55 percent of the vote in their head to head matchup.
Overall, Stephens earned 7,743 votes over the four rounds where 25, 646 total votes were cast.
