Another week goes by and we are in the heart of December.
Each week, Bounce will pick 15 or more games in the area that draw his interest.
*Unlike Blitz, we aren’t picking spreads here…just winners
LAST WEEK: 15-5
2021-22 RECORD: 39-18
BOYS
Leo at Bishop Luers, Tuesday
The Lions haven’t been a surprise but at the same time, they’ve just been answering some of the questions we had about them. They did find a new primetime scorer to replace Blake Davison, but with it being a post player, their game has changed a lot. A possible Sectional rematch could happen and I think Luers will be a lot closer then with how much momentum the Lions have now. BOUNCE PICKS LEO
Garrett at Fremont, Tuesday
The Eagles are one of the best scoring teams in the state so far and they should be earning everyone’s respect. Garrett is much improved under a new head coach but the Eagles have this guy named Gabel Pentecost who should be on everyone’s radar immediately. BOUNCE PICKS FREMONT
Woodlan at Angola, Tuesday
The Hornets are not a team to overlook. They are strong and they are are feisty. The same can really be said about a Woodlan team who is going to be itching to rebound from a setback against Jay County where they struggled offensively. Angola’s issue is something a lot of teams will share: who can defend Joe Reidy? BOUNCE PICKS WOODLAN
North Side at South Side, Friday
The oldest rivalry in Fort Wayne. A trophy on the line. First win of the season on the line. This one is going to be a really fun game and should actually, despite its winless components, be the best SAC boys game this Friday to tip off the girl-boy double headers. Both teams are banged up from football season still but expect a wild, fast affair. BOUNCE PICKS NORTH SIDE
Snider at Wayne, Friday
The Panthers sadly don’t have a lot of consistency is how often they are playing early, which is a shame because we want to see them more often. All eyes here are focused on how Aidan Lambert follows up his 40 point dunk fest from Snider’s first game. He won’t get to do it as easily against a Wayne team that just battled Culver Academy hard. Doesn’t mean he won’t still do it. BOUNCE PICKS SNIDER
Carroll at Columbia City, Saturday
Carroll is a team still looking to establish its identity. Part of last weekend’s game against East Noble started to establish that. Bounce really likes the upside of Cannen Houser, but the Chargers need more around him. The Eagles have the experience and the balance edge right now. BOUNCE PICKS COLUMBIA CITY
Fremont at DeKalb, Saturday
There is no doubt that DeKalb is one of the toughest gyms to win in. With the Barons getting in that win column last week, their confidence is only going to grow. Still, Fremont is a rare 1A school that shouldn’t have a lot of issue going head to head with a much bigger school. BOUNCE PICKS FREMONT
GIRLS
Angola at Snider, Tuesday
Another tough test for Angola, who must have just decided that they want no breaks on Tuesdays this season. Snider isn’t being talked enough about probably because of early struggles. But the Panthers do have arguably the two best wins of the season for area teams. They are still really, really good. BOUNCE PICKS SNIDER
Manchester at Huntington North, Tuesday
The Vikings have slowed down some and this one is interesting because Manchester thrives more when they aren’t being outpaced. A slower pace could help the Squires and Ainsley West a lot. Can the Vikings push their pace and will? Taylor Double is the best player in the area that we aren’t hearing enough about, she is a constant. BOUNCE PICKS HUNTINGTON NORTH
Westview at Garrett, Tuesday
This is going to be a major uphill battle for the Warriors, but worth noting because they have come a long way this season already. The Railroaders should give them fits, but that doesn’t mean Westview isn’t more prepared for this game this season. BOUNCE PICKS GARRETT
Bellmont at Bishop Luers, Wednesday
Always a fun back and forth game. The Knights are playing good basketball and have a lot of balance from top to bottom with seniors through freshman stepping up nightly. BOUNCE PICKS BISHOP LUERS
Warsaw at Carroll, Wednesday
Two really good teams here and Warsaw really likes these for area respect. The Chargers are getting better with their depth, much like last season when they could see a lot of girls score on one night. They will have to be tough inside to match Warsaw. This could easily end up being the best game of the week for either gender. BOUNCE PICKS CARROLL
Blackhawk Christian at South Adams, Thursday
South Adams is off to a great start under legendary coach Wayne Kreiger and that shouldn’t come as a surprise. A win over one of the best teams in Class 1A could be a real motivator. BOUNCE PICKS SOUTH ADAMS
Northrop at Bishop Luers, Friday
Jockeying for position here in the SAC and the Bruins can’t afford a loss if they want to stay in the title chase. As good as Luers is and as hard as it is to win on the road in the SAC, especially double header night, title hopes are a powerful motivator. That and the Jackson sisters are a powerful duo. BOUNCE PICKS NORTHROP
Norwell at Columbia City, Friday
THE GAME OF THE WEEK. Norwell is the face of the NE8 and the Eagles have something to say about it this season. Both young teams, so expect this game to continue to be the conference standard for a long time to come. Something about Columbia City’s best start since long before any of these players were born (1992-93) seems special. BOUNCE PICKS COLUMBIA CITY
Norwell at Garrett, Saturday
Fresh legs matter. And Norwell sure isn’t getting that on the back end of one of the hardest back to backs any team could play this season. Something about picking against Norwell twice in a week feels wrong. But what Garrett does makes it a bit easier. BOUNCE PICKS GARRETT
