Bounce’s Picks for the week of November 8-13

So hey there folks, did you miss me? While I guess we will allow that big bear to continue his football season prognostications, we are actually playing real-life high school girls basketball again this week after a great start last week.

Once the boys start playing near the end of the month, my weekly picks will be broken up into half girls and half boys games. Each week, I will pick and predict the top 10 games or so – as I see them – on the area schedule. Until the boys kick things off, all 10 of these games will be on the girls side.

*Unlike Blitz, we aren’t picking spreads here…just winners

Can I somehow top these stellar records from the past three seasons?

2018-19 RECORD: 129-59 (.686)

2019-20 RECORD: 139-48 (.743)

2020-21 RECORD: 175-64 (.735)

2021-22 RECORD: TBD

Adams Central at Bishop Luers, Tuesday

Luers came out swinging last week and as a team I had some questions about, they are showing what they can do. And their shoe game is on point. Don’t expect them to walk through AC, but after last week, there is a clear edge. BOUNCE PICKS BISHOP LUERS

Columbia City at West Noble, Tuesday

These are two teams who could have a lot to say in their respective conferences by the end of the year. Last season, the Chargers got the win that was big in many ways. They are still a really good team but right now it feels like Columbia City is more complete, especially after opening the season with an upset of the defending SAC champs. BOUNCE PICKS COLUMBIA CITY

South Side at Jay County, Tuesday

Can Jay County be effective against a team that beat them pretty well last season. Two big differences in this game: inside presence and home court advantage. Fun opener for both, but…BOUNCE PICKS JAY COUNTY

Huntington North at Snider, Tuesday

This one has incredible defense written all over it. Both teams have high motors and that should be on pretty good display, even this early in the season. The Vikings are probably the sleeper in the NE8 but the Panthers have to be in the argument for SAC favorite. BOUNCE PICKS SNIDER

Northridge at Homestead, Wednesday

A week ago, I was probably going with a Northridge upset honestly. This is a very good team with a lot of strong parts I got to see a bit of this summer. Then Homestead absolutely dogged Carmel. Yeah yeah, Carmel wasn’t 100%; BUT the last time the Greyhounds lost by 32 was just shy of 7 years ago. That note is substantial and it speaks volumes of Homestead. I still like you Northridge, just not here. BOUNCE PICKS HOMESTEAD

Central Noble at East Noble, Thursday

Not a close matchup at this point probably but I love rivalry games. CN and EN are close, there is a familiar bond here and with former coaching colleagues Josh Treesh and Shawn Kimmel facing off, most bets are off. But I still like the Cougars. BOUNCE PICKS CENTRAL NOBLE

Bellmont at Woodlan, Friday

Was last week a two-faced look at the Warriors or is there really that wide of a gap between holding a team to 9 points and then effectively being held yourselves to 14 (through 3 quarters and pre new running clock rule)? I’m going with a gap. Woodlan is a strong team who can control the inside. Just our second look of the year at Bellmont here as they play Tuesday opposite Concordia. But I can’t see that game before it happens so I’m going with what I know. BOUNCE PICKS WOODLAN

Carmel at Carroll, Saturday

The Greyhounds are going to want to take out some frustration on Fort Wayne and if they are at full strength, it could be a tough one for Carroll. But the Chargers are probably frustrated with their start too. Game of the Week here? Don’t expect either team to take their foot off the gas pedal. Toss up here. BOUNCE PICKS CARROLL

Whitko at Churubusco, Saturday

Two teams looking to build off second year head coaches. Both teams come into the week unbeaten which could clearly change with tough games before Saturday. Coaches Justin Jordan and David Goodwell know each other as well as anyone in the area does and that should make for a lot of excitement and a pretty good chess match. Busco took this game last season, I expect this one to be closer. BOUNCE PICKS CHURUBUSCO

Angola at Norwell, Saturday

A lot of uncertainty at Angola as I write this. What that means, we don’t know right now. What we do know is game three of the week and the second end of two straight isn’t easy at all. Norwell is learning, but this is The Castle after all and Kennedy Fuelling has already been showcasing her super high upside this season. BOUNCE PICKS NORWELL
