Outside the Huddle and Blitz are counting down who they feel are the top 50 individual players in northeast Indiana heading into the 2021 season.

Our highest preseason honor, the third-annual First Eleven profiles the top players (in the mind of OTH) entering this fall.

No. 5: WR/DB Rowan Zolman, senior, East Noble

Some players work harder than everyone else to become a top talent.

Others have the innate ability to be a stud from Day 1.

Rowan Zolman fits both of those categories.

At 6-foot-5 and 210 pounds, Zolman has the physique to excel on the football field, not to mention his strength and quickness. But Zolman always seems to be in the right place at the right time on game nights, evidenced by his 14 career INTs, including 11 last season.

Zolman is a supreme talent who impacts the game in multiple ways. He hauled in 11 receiving touchdowns on nearly 18 yards per catch in 2020. At safety, it is near impossible to get behind him downfield, as Zolman is as good with Xs and Os as he is laying out a ball carrier or breaking up a pass.

The senior will no doubt make the highlight reel this season almost yearly, and Coach Luke Amstutz is going to cherish 2021 with Zolman knowing that he may not coach someone with his skill set ever again.

COACH’S QUOTE ON ROWAN ZOLMAN

“Rowan Zolman is a flat-out PLAYMAKER. He seems to always end up near the ball, and his size and athletic ability make him a scary sight in the middle of the defense or on the outside of the offense. Rowan’s on-the-field play and off-the-field leadership and example are a huge part of our team and we are looking forward to great things in 2021.” – East Noble coach Luke Amstutz
