2021 Girls Sectional Basketball: Schedule and Results

The 2021 postseason for girls hoops will kick off on February 2 with championship games currently scheduled. for February 6. This story will be updated with final scores and statistics as they come in throughout the Sectional week.

CLASS 1A

SECTIONAL 51 AT FREMONT

Tuesday, February 2

Fremont 38, Elkhart Christian 17: Jada Rhonehouse scored eight points and had seven rebounds for Fremont. Eva Foulk also added eight points for the host team.

Blackhawk Christian 40, Lakewood Park 32: Blackhawk Christian was led by Hailee Kline’s 20 points. Chloe Jolloff scored 16 points to lead Lakewood Park.

Friday, February 5

Fremont 37, Bethany Christian 36: Jada Rhonehouse led Fremont with 14 points and 4 assists. The Eagles expanded their lead to four with 9.6 seconds left on a Katie Berlew free throws but Bethany Christian ran out of time in trying to come back.


Blackhawk Christian 94, Hamilton 12

Saturday, February 6

Blackhawk Christian 42, Fremont 32: The Braves have won back to back Sectional title and now have four in their program’s history, all coming since 2015. Their 19th win is a program record for most wins in a single season.

SECTIONAL 35 AT FAIRFIELD

Tuesday, February 2

Prairie Heights 81, South Bend Career Academy 17: Alayna Boots scored 17 points to lead the Panthers while Kennedy Kugler posted seven points and seven rebounds. Trevyn Terry scored for Prairie Heights, who registered 29 steals as a team in the win.

Bremen 54, Westview 22: Hallie Mast led Westview with seven points.

Friday, February 5

Prairie Heights 52, LaVille 38: Alayna Boots scored 17 and had 5 assists for PH while Kennedy Kugler added 14 points.


Fairfield 51, Bremen 32

Saturday, February 6

Fairfield 45, Prairie Heights 23: Fairfield wins their fourth ever Sectional title and first since 2018.

SECTIONAL 36 AT EASTSIDE

Tuesday, February 2

Churubusco 60, Whitko 37: Mariah Hosted scored 12 points and Brelle Shearer added 11 for Churubusco.

Wednesday, February 3

Adams Central 63, Canterbury 15: McKenna Dietsch surpassed the 1,000 career point mark during the first quarter for Adams Central.

Eastside 53, South Adams 35: Sullivan Kessler scored 14 points and Grace Kreischer added 12 for Eastside in the win. South Adams’ was led by Kristen Wynn’s 12 points and 10 from Peyton Pries.

Friday, February 5

Bluffton 51, Churubusco 38: Mariah Hosted scored 20 in the loss for Churubusco. Bluffton is in the Sectional title game for the fourth straight season behind 16 points from Zoe Barger. Natalie Lehrman added 10 points for Bluffton.


Eastside 55, Adams Central 43:
Sullivan Kessler had a game high 25 points and Ally King added nine for Eastside. Adam’s Central was led by Sage Hammond’s 12 points.

Saturday, February 6

Bluffton 38, Eastside 31: The Tigers win their fourth ever Sectional title and third in the past four seasons. Zoe Barger scored 14 points and Emma Boots added 12 in the win for Bluffton.

CLASS 3A

SECTIONAL 20 AT WAWASEE

Tuesday, February 2

Lakeland 62, Central Noble 56: The Lakers overcame a late deficit to outscore Central Noble 25-7 in the fourth. Bailey Hartsough hit 14 of 17 free throws with a game high 28 points for Lakeland, joined by 17 points from Madison Keil. Central Noble was led by Meghan Kiebel’s 17 points while Bridgette Gray scored 16 and became the eighth Central Noble player ever (and fourth girl) to pass 1,000 points for their career.

NorthWood 51, Wawasee 48

Friday, February 5

Lakeland 49, West Noble 47: Madison Kiel’s three pointer with 3 seconds left pushed the Lakers over the top. Bailey Hartsough scored 19 for Lakeland to become the all-time leading scorer in LaGrange County history while Peyton Hartsough added 13 points. West Noble was led by 15 points from Lilly Mast.


NorthWood 62, Tippecanoe Valley 61, OT

Saturday, February 6

Lakeland 46, NorthWood 33: Lakeland wins the fourth title in program history and the first since 1996. Madison Kiel led the way with 17 points for Lakeland and Bailey Hartsough scored 16.

SECTIONAL 21 AT GARRETT

Tuesday, February 2

Garrett 62, Leo 28: The host defending champions were led by 21 points and eight rebounds from Bailey Kelham. Nataley Armstrong scored 15 and had seven assists and four steals while Taylor Gerke added 10 points and eight rebounds and Morgan Ostrowski had nine points and 15 rebounds.

Angola 47, Concordia Lutheran 38: Hanna Knoll had a game high 25 points including 18 in the second half for Angola. Riley Pepple added 10 points. Grace Hedtke led Concordia with 11 points.

Friday, February 5

Garrett 50, Woodlan 28: Garrett’s 20th win of the season came with big aid from Faith Owen’s 22 points (with six made threes) and five steals. Bailey Kelham added 14 points and 8 rebounds for Garrett while Nataley Armstrong had seven assists.


Angola 53, Bishop Dwenger 37

Saturday, February 6

Angola 40, Garrett 36: The Hornets win their third title in school history and second in the past three seasons.

SECTIONAL 23 AT NORWELL

Tuesday, February 2

Bellmont 51, Oak Hill 34: Morgan Shifferly scored 20 points to lead the Sqauws. Faith Morris added 15 points in the win.

Wednesday, February 3

Heritage 56, Mississinewa 42

Norwell 49, Bishop Luers 34: Maiah Shelton scored 25 points, had 7 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead Norwell. Kaylee Fuelling added 14 points and 10 rebounds. Delaney Bailey scored 12 points for Bishop Luers.

Friday, February 5

Bellmont 65, Eastern (Greentown) 21: A very balanced Bellmont effort was led by Faith Morris’ 16 points while Lauren Bleke added 10.


Norwell 81, Heritage 31: Maiah Shelton set a Norwell program single game scoring record with 36 points; she did so on 14/18 shooting and added 13 rebounds. Kennedy Fuelling added 10 points for the Knights. Heritage was led by 10 points each from Ella Bickel and Shelby Schane.

Saturday, February 6

Norwell, Bellmont 35: The Knights win their second straight Sectional title and 15th overall. This is also their ninth title in the last 11 seasons. Norwell was led by 12 points from Kennedy Fuelling and eight points from Kaylee Fuelling. Maiah Shelton was held to four points, but had 10 rebounds. Bellmont was led by Morgan Shifferly’s 12 points.

SECTIONAL 24 AT NEW CASTLE

Tuesday, February 2

Jay County 52, Delta 27: Jay County held Delta to just over eight percent first half shooting in the win. Renna Schwieterman scored 18 points to lead the Patriots while Madison Dirksen added 11.

Wednesday, February 3

Hamilton Heights 64, Winchester 42
New Castle 58, Muncie Burris 45

Friday, February 5

Jay County 65, Yorktown 55: The Patriots surged back from early foul trouble from their leading scorer, out scoring the Tigers 18-11 in the second quarter without Rena Schwieterman. Izzy Rodgers scored a career high 28 for the Patriots and Madison Dirksen added 20z

Saturday, February 6

Hamilton Heights 46, Jay County 42: Renna Schweiterman and Madison Dirksen each had 13 points in the loss.


CLASS 4A

SECTIONAL 4 AT GOSHEN

Tuesday, February 2

Penn 82, Concord 27

Warsaw 33, Goshen 29: The Tigers upended the host team behind 10 points and eight rebounds from Abby Sanner while Kensie Ryman added seven points. Warsaw outrebounded Goshen 33-20.

Friday, February 5

Penn 46, Elkhart 26


Warsaw 36, Northridge 28: The low scoring affair started out 4-4 after the first quarter and Warsaw was out scored 3-0 in the second. In the end, the Tigers prevailed with Kacilyn Krebs’ 16 points and nine rebounds leading the way.

Saturday, February 6

Penn 54, Warsaw 31: Warsaw was held to a single first quarter point and was stuck fighting back from there. Abby Sanner had 10 points for the Tigers in the loss.

SECTIONAL 5 AT DEKALB

Tuesday, February 2

East Noble 71, North Side 33: Carly Turner Ed East Noble with 21 points while Avan Beiswanger scored 12 and Bree Walmsley added 11 points and seven rebounds.

Northrop 58, DeKalb 50: Northrop was paced by TiAuna White’s 22 points and six rebounds while Jasmine Perry added 13 points and six rebounds of her own.

Friday, February 5

Carroll 69, East Noble 35: Taylor Fordyce’s 16 points led another balanced effort from Carroll. The Chargers also got 12 from Neveah Jackson and 11 points from Saniya Jackson. Avan Beiswanger’s 10 points led East Noble.


Snider 85, Northrop 71: Jordyn Poole led four Panthers in double figures with 26 points while Johnea Donahue added 16. Northrop was paced by a game high 31 points from TiAuna White; she also added 10 rebounds. Alexa Robinson had 18 points and nine rebounds for the Bruins.

Saturday, February 6

Carroll 82, Snider 71: The Chargers won their fifth straight Sectional title and 11th overall. Carroll was led by Taylor Fordyce’s 21 points and Emily Parrett’s 20 points. Eight Chargers scored in double figures, also including Saniya Jackson’s 16. Snider was led by Johnea Donahue’s 26 in the loss while Destini Craig added 17 points and Destiny Jackson scored 16.

SECTIONAL 6 AT COLUMBIA CITY

Tuesday, February 2

Homestead 69, Wayne 26: The Spartans were led by Ayanna Patterson’s 21 points and Ali Stephens added 14.

Huntington North 31, New Haven 29: Grace Sell had a team high nine points for Huntington North, with Taylor Double (8 points) and Reece Colclesser (7 points) right behind her. New Haven, who only dressed six players, was led by Avarcia Nard’s 13 points and eight from Kayla Williams.

Friday, February 5

Homestead 45, Columbia City 33


South Side 53, Huntington North 45: Olivia Smith led South Side with 25 points and five assists. Annika Davis and Jas Combs each added 11 for the Archers. Huntington North got 20 points and 13 rebounds out of Taylor Double.

Saturday, February 6

Homestead 33, South Side 31: Despite just nine first half points, Homestead rallies to win their 15th Sectional title and third in a row. The Spartans held South Side scoreless in the third quarter to launch the comeback. Ayanna Patterson led the Spartans with 21 points in the win, giving Homestead their first lead of the game at 33-31 with under two seconds to play. Olivia Smith led South Side with 15 points.
