After four rounds and over 133,000 total votes cast, you have made a statement and South Side’s Olivia Smith is your FAN CHOICE as the Preseason Player of the Year in girls basketball.
Smith, a junior, was ranked third in our annual Top 50 player countdown. Her team, the Archers, was ranked #3 in our countdown of the top 10 area teams.
In the finals of the FAN VOTE, Smith beat out Garrett’s Morgan Ostrowski with 60.09 percent of the over 20,000 votes cast in the final round.
Smith advanced out of the opening round by securing the most votes in the Leigha Brown Region. It also secured her the #1 overall seed in the Top 8 voting. In the quarterfinal round of 8, Smith beat out Garrett’s Bailey Kelham. In the semi final round, Smith again compiled big votes as she beat Bishop Luers’ Delaney Bailey.
In four total rounds, Smith alone tallied 47,156 votes.
