Heading into the month of December, it was an overtime performance in a minor upset that drew int he fans on the girls basketball side. With that game, Northrop’s Amanda Thatcher won the FAN VOTE for Performance of the Week for girls basketball during December 2-7.
Thatcher had 25 points and four steals on Friday in a 58-55 win over Bishop Dwenger in overtime. That performance earned her 39.05 percent of the more than 3,100 fan votes.
Other nominees included Renna Schweiterman of Jay County, Carly Holley of Adams Central, Kennedy Kugler of Prairie Heights, Shabrea O’Quinn of Wayne, Ayanna Patterson of Homestead, Hanna Knoll of Angola, Abby Sheehan of Heritage, Olivia Smith of South Side, Maiah Shelton of Norwell, Hailee Kline of Blackhawk Christian and Emily Parrett of Carroll.
These polls will run each Sunday through the season and are not considered a “player of the week,” but will instead focus on who had best performance in a single game during the week, NOT a body of work during the entire week.
