The Defending Class 1A state champions opened their season in a major way last week with multiple noteworthy performances, known better than Zane Burke’s. His outing in the Braves’ season opener earned him the FAN VOTE win for Performance of the Week for boys hoops during the week of December 2-7.
Burke had 33 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists Tuesday in a 105-59 win over North Side. That earned Burke 36.27 percent of the of the over 3,400 fan votes.
Other nominees included Central Noble’s Connor Essegian, Woodlan’s Mitch Mendenhall, Leo’s Zack Troyer, Bellmont’s Kade Fuelling, New Haven’s Thomas Latham, Lakewood Park’s Josh Pike, Churubusco’s Jackson Paul, Norwell’s Will Geiger, Homestead’s Luke Goode, Concordia Lutheran’s Brayden Pearson and Bishop Luers’ Naylon Thompson.
These polls will run each Sunday through the season and are not considered a “player of the week,” but will instead focus on who had best performance in a single game during the week, NOT a body of work during the entire week.
