Top 50 Boys Hoops: #24 Blake Davison

The third Leo Lion to take his place in our top 25 countdown comes a name as synonymous with the Leo program as any last name is with any program. With older brothers Adam and Jeremy playing as All-Area standouts in previous seasons, Blake Davison is carrying on a rich family tradition as the face of Leo.

The arc of being a Davison is rooted in being a knockdown shooter and Blake is no exception. He knocked down a team best 34 triples last season at a 31.5 percent success rate as the Lions will likely be even more of a shooting team into 2019-2020. Blake Davison also doesn’t live and die by that skill, developing a toughness in getting to the basket from his freshman season on. Davison has not seen a year outside of the varsity level and that, combined with a certain target his last name brings, has made him battle tested at a high level and he always responded.

It was probably lost on many last season that Davison averaged such high numbers, putting up 17.4 points and six rebounds per contest. He took a leadership role, by example, for a very young Lion team. He brings a high level of cerebral basketball knowhow to the court and is able to pick out and take advantage of many defensive weaknesses and liabilities that other teams have.

“Blake had a good sophomore year from us. He is a well-rounded player, who we are looking to take another step up this year in all areas,” says Leo coach Cary Cogdell. “As an upperclassmen, he will need to take more of a vocal role.”
