For the first time this year, and hopefully the last, we have a Player of the Week instead of a Player of the Night. Heavy rains and lightning turned high school football into a two day affair with some games played on Friday night and others throughout the day on Saturday.
This led to DeKalb’s Landon Miller being selected as the FAN VOTE Player of the Week for the third time this season. On Friday night, he ran 22 times for 212 yards, including a long run of 48 yards. He added two rushing touchdowns in the 26-7 win over Huntington North. It earned Miller 38.87 percent of the more than 5,000 fan votes.
Other nominees included Bluffton’s Cody Mittlestedt, South Adams’ James Arnold, Woodlan’s Trevor Wallace, Carroll’s Layton Mitchell, Central Noble’s Sawyer Yoder, Heritage’s Gage Pritchard, Bishop Dwenger’s Griffin Eifert, Homestead’s Luke Goode, Snider’s Lenny Bennett, Churubusco’s Jake Fulk and Northrop’s Qualen Pettus.
Fan voting for Player of the Night opens each Saturday morning. You can choose your favorite candidate through the following Tuesday at noon.
NOTE: Your favorite player not getting noticed? Outside the Huddle fan vote nominees are based on game night statistics provided by the teams. Make sure your coach is sending in stats on Friday night to othscores@gmail.com
