All-NECC girls basketball teams named

The Northeast Corner Conference released their all-conference teams on Tuesday night now that all of their teams have complete conference play. The NECC had four teams win Sectional titles this season and Central Noble once again won a Regional title.

Regular season and tournament conference champions, Central Noble, placed three players on the All-NECC team: Sydney Freeman, Meleah Leatherman and Bridgette Gray.

Joining the Cougar trio as All-NECC are Angola’s Hanna Knoll and Reace Peppler, Fremont’s Bella Dangerfield, Garrett’s Faith Owen and Makenzie Casselman, Lakeland’s Bailey Hartsough and Keirstin Roose, Prairie Heights’ Alexis German, West Noble’s Madison Schermerhorn, Lilly Mast and Lauren Burns and Westview’s Ashya Klopfenstein.

The NECC also named players as All-Conference Honorable Mention. Those players are Angola’s Sarah Duvendack, Churubusco’s Myah Bear, Central Noble’s Lydia Andrews, Eastside’s Sullivan Kessler, Fairfield’s Chloe Dell, Fremont’s Jada Rhonehouse, Garrett’s Nataley Armstong, Lakeland’s Makayla Mast, Prairie Heights’ Kennedy Kugler, West Noble’s Megan Godfrey and Westview’s Gloria Miller.

Central Noble went 10-0 during the conference’s regular season to claim the title, handing 9-1 Angola their only conference loss. The two teams were followed, in order, by West Noble, Lakeland, Fremont, Garrett, Westview, Eastside, Fairfield, Prairie Heights and Churubusco. The girls of Hamilton did not compete in conference varsity games this season.

Six different NECC teams won at least one postseason game with Central Noble, West Noble, Angola and Fremont all winning Sectional titles.
