BLITZ’S PICKS: Week 10

As quick as the start of the season came, it is now playoff time. Now, you show up and show out or it is time to focus on winter sports like basketball (barf).

So, let’s not think about what awaits us soon indoors (ew) on the basketball court (ugh). Instead, let’s enjoy the ride to Lucas Oil Stadium in the hopes that we have solid representation from northeast Indiana at state.

It all begins this week. Let’s get to Blitz’s picks.

Last week: 16-4 (.800)
Overall: 161-32 (.834)

NEW HAVEN AT DEKALB. The Bulldogs put up a fight way back in Week 3 in a 28-14 Barons win. The rematch won’t be as close BLITZ SAYS DEKALB BY 22.

BISHOP DWENGER AT NORTH SIDE. These two squads did not meet in the regular season, but now face off in the playoffs for the first time since 2021. Maalik Moore is available for the Legends, giving them a huge boost in what will be a tough task to find opportunities against Bishop Dwenger’s defense. The Saints will control this one with its running game. BLITZ SAYS BISHOP DWENGER BY 10.

COLUMBIA CITY AT LEO. Two weeks ago, the Lions’ defense was pushed around by Columbia City’s offensive front and allowed 422 yards rushing and 49 points in a lopsided loss on the road. Can Leo put up more of a fight at home? Yes, but not enough. BLITZ SAYS COLUMBIA CITY BY 13.

EAST NOBLE AT WAWASEE. This is the third-straight road game for East Noble. It will also be the third-straight game won by 40 or more points. BLITZ SAYS EAST NOBLE BY 41.

MARION AT JAY COUNTY. The Giants are allowing 46 points per game. Should be a big night for Leighton Brown in the run game. BLITZ SAYS JAY COUNTY BY 20.

BISHOP LUERS AT YORKTOWN. The Knights are as healthy as they have been all season, which gives them some positivity heading into this one. However, Yorktown plays a very tough schedule in the Hoosier Heritage Conference and has been tested this year both on the field by opponents and off with the tragic death of senior defensive end Chris Wilson Jr. BLITZ SAYS YORKTOWN BY 14.

WEST NOBLE AT SOUTH BEND WASHINGTON. Washington has scored six points the entire season. Six. BLITZ SAYS WEST NOBLE BY 37.

FAIRFIELD AT JOHN GLENN. Battle of the Falcons, although one doesn’t have a head coach. Glenn’s Troy Sausaman resigned after Week 8 in his first season at the helm. Athletics Director Eric Stephens has led the program ever since. Should be a big night for Miguel Gutierrez in the run game. BLITZ SAYS FAIRFIELD BY 27.

MISHAWAKA MARIAN AT ANGOLA. Overlook Marian at your own risk. The Hornets will want to put the Knights away early, as they have played arguably the toughest sectional in Sectional 26. Now all three-win teams are built the same. BLITZ SAYS ANGOLA BY 14.

GARRETT AT BLUFFTON. The Tigers have allowed a total of 27 points in five home games this season. The Railroaders may eclipse that 5.4-point average, but can the defense get any stops? BLITZ SAYS BLUFFTON BY 36.

WOODLAN AT NORWELL. The Knights have lost four of their last five games, but that win at Huntington North in Week 8 was impressive. Woodlan won’t be able to score enough. BLITZ SAYS NORWELL BY 16.

CONCORDIA AT ADAMS CENTRAL. Blitz understands the talk regarding the Cadets in this game. Eli Trent can sling it and Concordia played a SAC schedule. But in this first-ever showdown between these two, Adams Central has the edge because of its ability to dictate things with its running game. If the Cadets can avoid turnovers though, they have a shot. BLITZ SAYS ADAMS CENTRAL BY 6.

BELLMONT AT HERITAGE. Can Jaxton Litchfield eclipse the 1,000-yard mark for rushing in this one? He needs 142 yards to do it. BLITZ SAYS HERITAGE BY 27.

BREMEN AT PRAIRIE HEIGHTS. Bremen’s offense will be too much for the Panthers in this one. BLITZ SAYS BREMEN BY 15.

LAKELAND AT ROCHESTER. The final month of the regular season was brutal to the Lakers, including a one-point loss to Churubusco in Week 9. Coach Tom Wogomon’s team hasn’t quit, however, which gives Blitz pause when picking against the Lakers here. Let’s do it. BLITZ SAYS LAKELAND BY 2.

MANCHESTER AT CENTRAL NOBLE. There is hope here for the Cougs. Hey, if Blitz can go with the Lakers, he can go with Coach Gabe Stuck’s squad to get a playoff dub. BLITZ SAYS CENTRAL NOBLE BY 4.

SOUTHWOOD AT BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN. The Braves’ first-ever playoff victory in IHSAA postseason competition? Make it so. BLITZ SAYS BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN BY 8.

CHURUBUSCO AT SOUTH ADAMS. In the last two weeks, the Eagles have beaten Lakeland on the road and fallen to Fairfield by a single touchdown. Coach Paul Sade’s team has continued to fight. But the offense of South Adams will be too much in this one. BLITZ SAYS SOUTH ADAMS BY 26.

SOUTHERN WELLS AT FREMONT. The Raiders have not won a playoff game since 2015. BLITZ SAYS FREMONT BY 40.
