Another exceptional week for Blitz last week, with the only two misses being squads getting their first victories of the season – Wayne over South Side and New Haven over Norwell.
Can’t feel bad about that. Kudos to the Generals and Bulldogs.

CARROLL AT SOUTH SIDE. After falling to Wayne last week, the Archers are hoping to get back on track. Unfortunately, Carroll, North Side and Bishop Dwenger are on the schedule over the final four weeks. This is probably the least winnable of the trio, as no one outside of Center Grove has found a way to slow down the Carroll offense. BLITZ SAYS CARROLL BY 28.
CONCORDIA AT BISHOP LUERS. The Knights will DEFINITELY win this week, right? Concordia gave Northrop fits last week and is actually averaging more points per game than Bishop Luers, which is 0-5 for just the second time in program history. The Knights are still battling, and gave North Side all it could handle last week. If Bishop Luers doesn’t shoot itself in the foot with penalties and turnovers, it should get win No. 1 on the year. BLITZ SAYS BISHOP LUERS BY 9.
NORTH SIDE AT WAYNE. Could the Generals make it two-straight wins? Here is the thing with North Side – it is talented enough to beat almost anyone on its schedule, but it also commits so many self-inflicted wounds that it presents opportunity to beat them to anyone as well. Wayne has confidence now and will come out with a spirited effort. The Legends will want to put this game away early and not let the Generals stick around. BLITZ SAYS NORTH SIDE BY 17.
NORTHROP AT BISHOP DWENGER. The Bruins look the part of the “best of the rest” in the SAC behind Carroll and Bishop Dwenger, but it has a chance Friday to prove that it is firmly on the tail of the Chargers in the conference race. Last year’s win by Northrop in this game really opened eyes to how good that team was. The same thing would be true if the Bruins can make it two straight. But the Saints have something to prove as well, with the motivation of last year at top of mind. BLITZ SAYS BISHOP DWENGER BY 2.
HOMESTEAD AT SNIDER. Both of these teams are facing tough schedules over the regular season’s final four weeks, which makes this showdown important for both in terms of getting a victory. Each have flaws, but also have standout offensive players, with Homestead being led by quarterback Logan Frieden and Snider with its rushing attack. This one could go either way, but Blitz sees Snider making the plays down the stretch to secure a close victory, a far cry from last year’s 38-0 pasting at the hands of the Spartans. BLITZ SAYS SNIDER BY 3.
HUNTINGTON NORTH AT DEKALB. Combined, these two teams are 0-3 in games decided by four points or less, which means they both have the same problem in closing out games. Expect another close one for both in this one. No team, even East Noble, has been able to keep the Vikings off the scoreboard, evidenced by their 37 points per game. DeKalb has lost two straight, but feels it let wins over East Noble and Columbia City get away the last two Fridays. That doesn’t happen a third-consecutive time. BLITZ SAYS DEKALB BY 4.
LEO AT BELLMONT. Speaking of teams that feel it let a game get away last week, Leo kept East Noble off the scoreboard until the fourth quarter, but couldn’t get the stops or score enough points to prevail. Points will be no problem this week for the Lions. BLITZ SAYS LEO BY 41.
NEW HAVEN AT COLUMBIA CITY. Five weeks into the season and the Eagles are still averaging over 400 yards rushing per game. Twenty-six of their 31 touchdowns have come on the ground. But Columbia City proved last week in the final minute of the game that it can make plays vertically when it needs to. As long as the Eagles aren’t caught looking ahead to next week’s trip to Kendallville, they should cruise against the Bulldogs. BLITZ SAYS COLUMBIA CITY BY 29.
NORWELL AT EAST NOBLE. You cannot say the Knights haven’t made things interesting the last two weeks against DeKalb and Leo. East Noble is scoreless in the first half over the last two games, but after a gauntlet of a first-half schedule, things ease up starting Friday, although Columbia City looms next week. This is a get-right week for the Knights’ offense, which will need to be in top form in Week 7. BLITZ SAYS EAST NOBLE BY 28.
ADAMS CENTRAL AT SOUTH ADAMS. The Flying Jets haven’t looked as dominant as they usually do, but they are still the class of the ACAC until someone knocks them off. Can the Starfires do it? While the offense can put up yards and points, this one will come down to the South Adams defense. During its current eight-game losing streak to the Jets, SA has allowed an average of 43 points per game. The defense MUST get stops. BLITZ SAYS ADAMS CENTRAL BY 15.
BLUFFTON AT SOUTHERN WELLS. Just three teams in Class 3A are averaging more than Bluffton’s 44.2 points per game. The Tigers could very well increase their ppg in this one. BLITZ SAYS BLUFFTON BY 45.
HERITAGE VS. BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN AT CONCORDIA HS. Since beginning the season 3-0, the Patriots have lost to South Adams and Adams Central, but battled both for four quarters. Jaxton Litchfield should have a big night on the ground to help Heritage get back into the win column. BLITZ SAYS HERITAGE BY 20.
WOODLAN AT JAY COUNTY. In losses to Heritage and Bluffton this year, Woodlan really struggled at containing the run game. Jay County’s offense revolves around running back Leighton Brown, who is averaging 159 yards per game on the ground. Not ideal for the Warriors. BLITZ SAYS JAY COUNTY BY 9.
CHURUBUSCO AT CENTRAL NOBLE. While the Eagles are 1-4, their losses have come to teams that are a combined 16-4. Meanwhile, the Cougars have not scored a point since Week 2 against Woodlan. BLITZ SAYS CHURUBUSCO BY 12.
FAIRFIELD AT WEST NOBLE. The problem that Fairfield faces in this matchup is figuring out a way to slow down West Noble’s offense, which is averaging 37 points per game. The Falcons had no answer for Eastside’s offensive attack last week, and things will be the same this week. BLITZ SAYS WEST NOBLE BY 26.
FREMONT AT PRAIRIE HEIGHTS. Despite being 0-5, the Panthers have been competitive in a few games this year, particularly against NECC foes. But can they hang with a Fremont team seething after back-to-back losses? Jaret Laughlin and the Eagles get back on track on Friday on the road. BLITZ SAYS FREMONT BY 21.
GARRETT AT EASTSIDE. Job Richman. Noah Dove. Rinse and repeat. BLITZ SAYS EASTSIDE BY 32.
LAKELAND AT ANGOLA. The Hornets have look really good over the course of the season thus far, but their final three games are against Fremont, West Noble and Eastside. That makes Friday a game Angola needs to win as it enters October and the toughest stretch of its schedule. BLITZ SAYS ANGOLA BY 14.
GOSHEN AT WARSAW. The question isn’t if the Tigers are going to beat Goshen, but rather if Coach Bart Curtis’ team will throw for a single yard in this game. The rushing attack has been exceptional all year as Warsaw looks to keep pace with Northridge atop the Northern Lakes Conference. BLITZ SAYS WARSAW BY 29.
