Each week, Bounce will pick Games on the boys side for the rest of the season. Looking to highlight the big games and the best matchups in the area. Unlike Blitz, we can’t quite pick every game because we don’t get to only play on Fridays, am I right?
If you know how Bounce picks, you know its different than that prognosticating bear in the fall. No projected scores or spreads here. Basketball is too unpredictable for silliness like that.
LAST TIME: 10-3 (including 4-1 girls Regionals)
THIS SEASON: 132-42
LAST SEASON: 136-66
BOYS GAMES
DEKALB AT CONCORDIA, TUESDAY
Don’t let Concordia’s record fool you. The Cadets are full of guys who can make plays at a pretty high level, so they are never a gimme especially in this potential Sectional preview game. That said, DeKalb has been really strong this season and they are looking to build on momentum for the postseason, not just create it. BOUNCE PICKS DEKALB
HERITAGE AT NORTH SIDE, TUESDAY
Two teams who have both fought with struggles but enjoyed quality win streaks throughout the season. North Side is looking to make a big upswing in these last two weeks and Heritage is the right kind of team to challenge what coach Shabaz Khaliq is building. Both teams have big athletes to make big plays. BOUNCE PICKS NORTH SIDE
SOUTH ADAMS AT BELLMONT, TUESDAY
Can we call this the Adams County title game? Both teams have already topped Adams Central this season, so this is the final game in county for each. There is no doubt that Daniel Selking is the best offensive player in this game, and in most games, but has South Adams developed better depth this season? BOUNCE PICKS SOUTH ADAMS
WAWASEE AT WESTVIEW, TUESDAY
Just a good fun battle with some quality players on both sides. Westview has been rolling and is arguably the best team in Northeast Indiana right now. Wawasee counters with a steady offensive presence and breakout game potential every night from Stephen Akase. BOUNCE PICKS WESTVIEW
BISHOP DWENGER AT LEO, WEDNESDAY
Another potential postseason preview with these two teams who are in the same Sectional. Both have been up and down this season, but the Saints’ ability to bounce back from large deficits has been a highlight in the area over the last few weeks. No lead may be safe, if Leo can build one, and that is something that has to be on the Lions’ minds. BOUNCE PICKS BISHOP DWENGER
CARROLL AT HOMESTEAD, FRIDAY
Does a meeting between these two teams ever need added spice? Its rare, but here we go again with SAC title implications in this one. It is simple, don’t lose. A Homestead win puts them at 7-2 in conference, tied with South and Snider, who they split with. A Carroll win eliminates Homestead from the title race and puts themselves at 6-2 with splits with both South and Snider, so we need to wait out Carroll’s game against Bishop Luers. Either way, the loser of this one is out of the SAC race, so it may as well be considered the most important one of the year in the SAC. BOUNCE PICKS HOMESTEAD
DEKALB AT GARRETT, FRIDAY
A big county rivalry game that lived up to all of the hype last season. This year however, the two potential Sectional opponents (see the trend this week?) have been trending opposite ways in their win-loss records. Garrett has been saddled with injuries, but Carter Coffman has been scoring at a high level lately. DeKalb has flexed more depth and variability with their scoring. BOUNCE PICKS DEKALB
BISHOP LUERS AT NORTH SIDE, FRIDAY
Neither team is in the conference title race, but this one is still expected to be a great showcase on Friday. Two teams, both fairly young, both like to get out and run. The great equalizer could be the three ball and the threat for Luers of shooters like Carmani Davis. Can North prevent the big plays from taking over this game? BOUNCE PICKS BISHOP LUERS
JAY COUNTY AT NORWELL, FRIDAY
Norwell can be borderline great at home. We saw this with their upset of Huntington North. Jay County is kind of just borderline great. The Patriots had won 14 straight before last week’s loss to Yorktown and that probably gets lost sometimes as they are the biggest outlier geographically of the ACAC teams. Norwell is going to have come at this game really strong to pick up another win at The Castle, where they are 7-4 this season. BOUNCE PICKS JAY COUNTY
SOUTH SIDE AT BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN, SATURDAY
It is always a great test for SAC teams when they have to visit the cozy confines of Blackhawk. The Archers are still plugging away strong, despite some lineup changes. This one is really going to test their defense. BOUNCE PICKS SOUTH SIDE
