Recently, we unveiled our plan to name area programs’ top five players of the 21st century, which sits at 25 seasons in both football and basketball.
Reminder, this is based on high school career performance ONLY. This is by no means a definitive list and, if anything, is encouraging debate on potential omissions to this list.
Through exhaustive research, reaching out to former coaches and players and our own personal opinion, here is the OTH Quarter Century Team for Southern Wells boys basketball.
Note: The list is in alphabetical order
Keaton Coleman
Coleman was a multi-sport athlete and served as a captain of the Raiders’ basketball team. Coleman still managed to produce standout games—like scoring 14 points in a matchup vs. Jay County, with 10 coming in a single quarter including two triples. He was also selected for a Class 1A senior all-star event in 2016. As a senior, Coleman averaged 17.5 points per game through 10 games, with limited other statistics available from that season. As a junior, Coleman averaged 15 points and 3.9 rebounds and as a sophomore, he averaged 9.6 points per game. He finished his career with 1,086 points.
Mark Fosnaugh
Fosnaugh became a member of the school’s 1,000-point club, finishing his high school career with 1,003 total points, according to a Wells County basketball historical listing. As a senior, he was among the state’s scoring leaders with 20.5 points per game over 20 games. During that same season, he posted a monster 18 rebound game against Wabash.
Chase Harris
During his tenure at Southern Wells from 2006 to 2010, Harris etched his name into the school record books by surpassing the 1,000-point threshold, finishing at 1,004 career points. As a junior, Harris averaged 10 points and six rebounds for the Raiders. He is considered a reliable interior presence and physical scorer.
Kreigh Rousch
Roush developed into one of the standouts in his class, joinging the school’s 1,000-point club with 1,038 career points. He had some big individual performances (notably a 29-point game vs. Blackford) and was recognized by his conference in 2020 via an All-ACAC Second Team nod.
Brandon Schumm
At Southern Wells, Schumm was a prolific Class A scorer, finishing his 2004–05 senior season at 21.4 ppg, a mark that placed him among Indiana’s top-listed scorers per IHSAA statistics that season. Also during his senior season, he averaged 12.7 rebounds per contest as a workhorse on the interior. He went on to IPFW.
