Another week, another chance to be great.
Each week, Bounce will pick (around) 10 games on the girls side and another (around) 10 on the boys side. Looking to highlight the big games and the best matchups in the area. Unlike Blitz, we can’t quite pick every game because we don’t get to only play on Fridays, am I right?
If you know how Bounce picks, you know its different than that prognosticating bear in the fall. No projected scores or spreads here. Basketball is too unpredictable for silliness like that.
This week, we get to get some boys games on the docket as well with their season officially tipping off.
LAST WEEK: 6-4
THIS SEASON: 24-5
LAST SEASON: 136-66
BOYS
FORT WAYNE HAWKS AT LAKELAND, TUESDAY
This is a fun one to tip off the season locally as it will be played in the middle of the day with all Lakeland staff and students in attendance. A great idea to fill the gym and the Hawks will certainly get the truest of road tests in this one. BOUNCE PICKS LAKELAND
EAST NOBLE AT WEST NOBLE, TUESDAY
How much has East Noble been able to engrain in the short time that Ed Bentley has been their head coach this fall? With several of their key athletes coming from a long football season, that is a big question. For now, we have to go with the safe and known option. BOUNCE PICKS WEST NOBLE
SOUTH SIDE AT JAY COUNTY, TUESDAY
The Archers take a long trip to start the season. Jay County has the ability to be very tough and physical in this game, but the questions about their ability to keep up with South Side’s athletes are what will linger. This could be a close one or could not be close at all. BOUNCE PICKS SOUTH SIDE
WOODLAN AT NEW HAVEN, TUESDAY
Its basically a new look for Woodlan this season against a New Haven squad who’s only real change is adding on more quality to depth. BOUNCE PICKS NEW HAVEN
BELLMONT AT CARROLL, WEDNESDAY
Last year was certainly a rebuilding one for Bellmont, so this year is a true test of what they may be able to do. Daniel Selking had one of the best offseasons of anyone in the area, but can the Braves be deep enough to handle a defending Sectional champ? BOUNCE PICKS CARROLL
LEO AT CONCORDIA, WEDNESDAY
Talk about rebuilds and that makes us look at Leo, who starts this season without their one true returner in Nolan Hiteshew. Concordia is up for a solid year, they rebound well and have guys who can knock down shots. BOUNCE PICKS CONCORDIA
ANGOLA AT WAWASEE, SATURDAY
The Hornets are primed for another strong season after a good run on the football field for a few of their guys. Wawasee presents a challenge early with a quality roster of returners that added former Tippy Valley players Steve Akase and Davis Cowan. This could be a fun, physical affair and its hard to count Angola out of those. BOUNCE PICKS ANGOLA
HUNTINGTON NORTH AT MISSISSINEWA, SATURDAY
A lot has been talked about when it comes to Huntington North’s depth this season, especially with their sophomores. But the upperclassmen like Grant Campbell and Titus Schultz are going to factor heavily into the scoring. Mississinewa presents challenges with their tenacity and high level scoring of their own sophomore Rayveon Fetz. BOUNCE PICKS HUNTINGTON NORTH
WARSAW AT COLUMBIA CITY, SATURDAY
A titanic battle to end the week, this one has all the fixings of game of the year potential. The difference in this one could be the home court advantage, but will likely be that Columbia City has so much back while Warsaw will be working a lot of guys into new roles early this season. BOUNCE PICKS COLUMBIA CITY

GIRLS
CARROLL AT EAST NOBLE, TUESDAY
Lily George has been as good as any interior player in the area as of late and was really good last week. East Noble will have to do their best to take her out of the game as it increases their odds significantly. BOUNCE PICKS EAST NOBLE
GARRETT AT ANGOLA, TUESDAY
Garrett has had a solid start to their season with some good individual performances and even some freshmen stepping up. But Angola has been really, really good and perhaps the team that has most exceeded expectations early this season. BOUNCE PICKS ANGOLA
PENN AT WARSAW, TUESDAY
The Tigers are going to be bouncing back from their first loss of the season and their schedule doesn’t take many days off. Even in defeat last week, Joslyn Bricker was a menace offensively. That won’t change and Warsaw won’t lose back to back. BOUNCE PICKS WARSAW
HOMESTEAD AT BELLMONT, FRIDAY
The unbeaten Braves will try to be the second team in two weeks to get a win over a really good Homestead squad. Bellmont is undefeated coming into the week, but this presents the biggest challenge as Homestead is just to good and experienced for most opponents. BOUNCE PICKS HOMESTEAD
WEST NOBLE AT FREMONT, FRIDAY
West Noble turned some heads with how they played Angola last week and it has people paying more attention to the Chargers than they have had for a while. Can they hold Grace Scharlach under 20? Can anybody hold her below 15 even? BOUNCE PICKS FREMONT
ANGOLA AT NORWELL, SATURDAY
Angola’s tough run just gets tougher. There isn’t much to say here; after last week picking against Norwell at The Castle is borderline blasphemy. BOUNCE PICKS NORWELL
EAST NOBLE AT WHITKO, SATURDAY
Whitko is a team everyone should be paying attention more to especially after a win over Northrop last week. The Wildcats are hard to handle, they do things very fundamentally right. BOUNCE PICKS WHITKO
FISHERS AT SNIDER, SATURDAY
Snider has had a really nice start this season and it should not go unnoticed that they have done a lot of it without Janaya Cooper in the lineup. Fishers can be a different breed of basketball sometimes and the Panthers could really use that push forward. BOUNCE PICKS SNIDER
