The OTH Quarter Century Team: Leo Lions boys basketball

Recently, we unveiled our plan to name area programs’ top five players of the 21st century, which sits at 25 seasons in both football and basketball.

Reminder, this is based on high school career performance ONLY. This is by no means a definitive list and, if anything, is encouraging debate on potential omissions to this list.

Through exhaustive research, reaching out to former coaches and players and our own personal opinion, here is the OTH Quarter Century Team for Leo Lions boys basketball.

Note: The list is in alphabetical order

Tony Bollier

Bollier played four years of varsity ball and averaged 20.6 points per game as a junior, when he he scored 45 points with nine three pointers against Churubusco. Going into his senior season, he became a two-time News-Sentinel Fantastic Five pick Bollier finished his career with 1,369 points which sits third all-time for the Lions, a program he led to three straight ACAC crowns and back-to-back ACAC Tournament titles. As a senior, Bollier averaged 18.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 2.4 steals as an All-Area selection. He continued his career at Wheaton College.

Blake Davison

At Leo High School, Davison emerged as a prolific scoring guard, averaging 17.4 points and 6 rebounds per game in 2018–19 as a sophomore after making his varsity debut during his freshman season. As a junior, Davison put up 17.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and team leading assists and steals, while he shot 48 percent from the field and 87 percent from the line for a Leo team that won their first Sectional title in 18 years and the first of three straight. As a senior, Davison hit the game winner against South Bend St. Joe that sent Leo to their first ever state finals appearance; he averaged 16.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest while starting every game and moving into second on Leo’s all-time scoring list with 1,493 points.

Jeremy Davison

A four year contributor for the Lions, he ended his high school career with 1,298 points. Davison knocked down 43.2 percent of his three pointers as a senior, on his way to averaging 19.2 points per game for the Lions, also racking up a team best 97 assists and 48 steals. During his junior season, Davison averaged 14.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. As a sophomore, Davison was a key component in Leo winning a share of the newly minted NE8 conference title after winning an ACAC title as a freshman.

David Hardin

Hardin was one of the Lion players to really bring the team back to form when he graduated in 2015. He was a four year starter who saw Leo go from an 11-win team as a freshman to a 21-3 record during his senior season, where he averaged 16.8 points and three assists per contest. Also during his senior season, Hardin became the 11th Lion to surpass 1,000 career points, finishing with 1,180 which is currently 7th in program history. Hardin averaged 14 points per game during his junior season with the Lions.

Jackson McGee

A two-time All-Area player, McGee was highly successful as part of Leo’s last big championship runs. His career culminated as an IBCA All-State selection as a senior, where he averaged 19.1 points and a career best 7.6 rebounds per game. As a junior, McGee shot 41.4 percent from the field while averaging a team best 18.3 points per game to go along with 5.2 rebounds. McGee became a major player in the second half of his sophomore season, helping the Lions to Sectional and Regional titles, including 14 points in each the Sectional and Regional title games and 13 points in the semi state loss that season. McGee surpassed 1,000 career points on his senior night for Leo in 2024, 12th on the program’s all-time list with 1,069 total.
