It seems like just yesterday we were all sweating Y2K (look it up, youngins), but it has been close to 25 years since we entered the new millennium.
So what better way to celebrate the one-quarter mark of the 21st century than with some Outside the Huddle Quarter Century teams?
In football, last year marked 25 seasons since the calendar turned to 2000. Over those 25 years, who are the top players we have seen in northeast Indiana?
Now, crowning the best player at each position would be impossible, not to mention open up a firestorm of outrage aimed at us. So instead of one team, we are going to break it down by program.
That’s right, the top five players over the last 25 years at area programs.
How do you whittle down the sizable list of Snider players worthy to just five? What about Bishop Luers? And who joins Mickey Owens and James Hardy on Elmhurst’s top five?
Don’t worry basketball fans, those Quarter Century teams are coming soon too.
But for now, it is football’s time. Give us your top five of your favorite program in the comments section as we look to former and current coaches, former players and fans to help us name each program’s OTH Quarter Century Team.
